Its an acoustically perfect church to listen to opera . The one hour concert is long enough and good enough to leave feeling you have had a great experience. The setting is historically important as this was Puccini"s family church . Much of the growth of the man , the composer , the brilliant artist that he was began here.... More

Two singers and a pianist play in the church of San Giovanni. On the night we were there the tenor and pianist were fabulous but the soprano wasn’t. So you do take a chance but overall an enjoyable pre dinner experience.

Being in Lucca listening to Puccini's music is mandatory, especially in such a great location like Chiesa San Giovanni! Even if you are normally not into opera and classical music, this experience is magic. The singers are professionals as well as the maestro at the piano. The program / repertoire changes daily and you'll get a discount if you attend... More

The last evening of our all too brief visit to the fine City of Lucca was greatly enhanced by listening to the music of Mozart, Puccini as performed by two excellent singers [Basso Baritone & Soprano] with equally fine piano work from Diego Fiorini. We then moved to the larger church of De Servi for a Gala Sinfonico Romatico as... More

Not being an opera buff, and bringing two kids 6 and 8), this was a good way to enjoy Puccini and Verdi in a beutiful church. I cant judge the performances, but my husband is somewhat more schooled and also like the evening (2 x 30 min)

Just marvelous, nothing to dislike, started a bit late but we got an encore of o sole me at the end. The church is very interesting and one can see the frescos and the excavations at the intermission.

I have never considered myself a fan of opera but this was a beautiful evening. The venue, acoustics and performers were fantastic. As a tourist and dressed as such, I was a little concerned about dress standard but that was not a problem. All were accepted, it was more about the music and performers. A mesmerizing evening and very well... More

We went to the concert on a Monday for the Puccini and Mozart evening. The tickets were easy to buy and the church venue was lovely. The singers and pianist were extremely good and the length of the evening was just right.

We went to four concerts, each one different, and loved them all. Wonderful acoustics, serene surroundings without the atmosphere being starchy - we dressed up each night as it's our tradition to do so, but casual clothes is fine too. The quality of the singing was first-rate especially tenor Max Jota; the musicality of pianist Diego Fiorini was breathtaking. Each... More
