I loved the Sunday concert. We bought tickets in the information centre in front of the train station. They were cheaper- 2 euros per person less, so 18 euro each. Sunday concert includes Puccini's arias and Napoli famous songs with" O sole mio".I did admire the singers- soprano Sylvia Pacini and basso-baritono Romano Martinuzzi. Pity that the concert didn't last longer.

I was raised by an opera buff, so a visit to Lucca without going to the opera was unheard of. The night we went the offerin were Mozart (Die Zauberflote, Figaro, Don Giovanni) and Puccini (A Boheme, Le Villi, Manon Lescaut, Tosca and Edgar). All incredibly performed by Fabiola Formiga, Diego Fiorini and on pianofore, Flavio Fiorini. GO!

Returning to Lucca we determined to enjoy one of the concerts with a full orchestra. We have previously heard the splendid soloists filling the church (what a fabulous acoustic); their diction and projection meant that we could hear and enjoy the sotto voce asides as well as the heart-piercing pieces. The multi-lingual audience was included and involved in the interval... More

Throughout the summer months, Puccini concerts with local artists keep visitors enthralled. The prices are reasonable and usually the acoustics are excellent. When the churches are undergoing renovation, the concerts may be held in other locations. The music venues are good value and definitely worth your time.

During my 2 week stay in Lucca I managed to go to three concerts since, in the winter, they are only held on Fridays and Saturdays. Each concert was a special occasion, the programme was different each time (Puccini, Rossini, Mozart, Verdi, etc.) as were the singers and pianist. They were all excellent and gave very moving performances. Audiences were 20... More

There were only 7 people in the audience, (perhaps being December) but the 2 female performers did not appear discouraged and sang extremely well. The pianist was very good too. The Baptistery in which the concert was held was beautiful too, and the seats were comfortable. The nearby restaurant in the square provided a good dinner after the concert.

Lucca was such a great stop on our trip to Italy. The Puccini recital was awesome in Lucca…better yet..it was during the Comic Con festival…too much fun. We had no idea that Lucca holds one of the largest Comi-Con's in the world… The costumes were elaborate and it was really fun to watch everyone play act and just act silly.... More

An amazing experience. We were in the Oratorio due to repairs being carried out on the Church. The setting was very intimate and the artistes simply brilliant. The two singers and the pianist really brought the music to life. Cannot wait to go back.

Although we are not usually fond of soprano voices, the two we heard were inspirational, with exceptionally sweet voices. We were appalled at the ignorance and ill manners of those who talked in the audience and left while the three wonderful artistes were still in our presence. Highly recommended.
