Stunning Views

The walk up to the San Domenico is worth it for the views over Florence. It was not crowded in June so was a welcome retreat from the business of Florence.

If you take the #7 bus to and back from Florence, be sure to have and to validate your ticket. The bus police target the #7 because it is usually full of foreign tourists who are not familiar with Italian bus systems. These guys pounce on the tourists ,and the fine they extort for not having a validated ticket is,... More

Took the bus up to Fiesole from Florence. Very much enjoyed the Roman ruins and taking pictures, trying to imagine lefe as it was lived then. Walked up the St. Francis Convent which we enjoyed very much and the overlook of Florence, while a little hazy was still beautiful. The lady at the tourist information office had suggested we take... This is the best secret of Florence. You must visit when you're in the area. The history is amazing and so are the views. Totally unparalleled experience. Definitely worth the effort to get there!

The tourist buses in central Florence can take you to this mountain town which is not too far from Florence. You get to see the outer suberbs wher the "well heeled" live, see some overviews of Florence and visit this little town which is probably worth much more time than we spent.. There is a steep, narrow road which rises... More

By chance, we took the open top tour bus to San Domenico Fiesole and we had the chance to get off to walk around. FIrst, the views of Firenze we amazing. However, the town setting & its history are remarkable as well. After a few purchases @ a street fair and a nice red wine, we were back on our... More

Lovely views of Firenze, but so do a lot of other places. The Missionary Museum is quite interesting. The Monks sent stuff home from AA OVER the world and it is very interesting. It's also peaceful.

If you are looking for an escape from the busy city centre of Florence, then hop on the number 7 bus from Piazza San Marco to the tranquil hillside town of Fiesole (bus leaves from Via Giorgio La Pira on the east flank of the piazza). The journey takes less than 20 minutes and the views from the town over... More
