If you want a great view of Florence from up high, you should visit the Forte. The art displayed there was not to our taste (modern abstract) and the grounds of the Forte could use some sprucing up. We took excellent pictures from this location of Florence.

Not long re opened to the public this is a great place next to the Pitti Palace and the gardens, we just found it by wandering up the hill. Lovely views and some very unusual sculptures, all topped of with a chilled glass of wine.

I was feeling guilty; I had followed up a late breakfast with an early lunch, and was feeling heavy. We had just crossed the Vecchio bridge and spotted the opportunity for some hill climbing. The climb was steep, but it was a lovely day with a gentle breeze, and at a very slow pace, we reached the top in 20... More

Having been in the Bodini Gardens we proceeded up to Fort Belvedere for the view. As an "art exhibition" was on we had to pay to enter even though we'd just gone for the views. The panorama over Florence is spectacular.

We took a taxi to go to the fort to enjoy a few great views of Florence but when we get there it was closed and no one was there to ask. We finally called a phone number that was written there and they told us that the Fort was closed due to rain! Of course we had to walk... More

The fort provides excellent panorama view of Florence! Unfortunately, there are unneeded exhibitions going on at the fort territory that one has to pay for. We had to support the exhibition even though we came there for the scenic views. Unfair trade. I would have gladly support the fort itself, but not the show.

After climbing a very steep hill expecting to see fantastic views of Florence and within the walls of the fort, this building has been closed for the past few years after someone fell of the wall and died, the Italian police have not allowed it to reopen. However, there were lots of workmen doing remedial work so maybe it will... More

Last day of the Exhibit of Zhiang Huan and entrance was free to general public. Nice panoramic view of Florence from another perspective. But getting to Forte Belvedere is a long walk/climb and the easiest way is from the Palazzo Pitti or boboli garden rather than climbing from via San giorgio across the ponte vecchio. Recommended!

Have you ever seen that classic view of Florence? The one taken from above, with the river flowing through the city, with all its bridges, and the Duomo on the right... This is the real view from the Belvedere! It's a relatively long walk from the city centre (or you can take a bus up to a certain point) but... More
