This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see.

David No. 3

Another decent walk up the hill gets you to the third David in the City with his eyes towards Rome. The views on this day were spectacular as it was sunny and clear

While the walk to Piazzale Michelangelo, especially the climb up teh stairs, takes lots of energy it is worth it for the views. We actually made the hike up there twice to listen to the live music and watch the sun set over Florence.

nice viewpoint over the city, it's close to the beautifull church San Miniato a monte as well. You can see the highlights of the city like the the Dome of the Duomo, the tower of Pallazo Vecchio, the Ponte Vecchio, but the remaining walls of the city as well, you have a nice panoramic view of the surrounding hills and... The climb was worth every minute - the sunset over the Arno and the entire town of Florence was incredible. Definitely a must see.

After a steep but picturesque walk up to the Piazzale on our first evening in Florence, we made it to the top and were greeted with the most phenomenal sunset view of Florence. If you want to take pictures that look like postcards, this is the place to do it! It does get pretty busy though, even in winter, so... More

We were fortunate to visit here twice, both times making sunset and then nightfall. I would encourage everyone to try and do this atleast once, there are no words that can really do it justice. This is a classic 'must experience for yourself' moment. The walk up from the Oltrarno side of the Ponte Vecchio is steep but rewarding with... More

Take pictures of the city below. Walk in the garden above and have an icecream! Beautiful at sunset. You can buy a firenze t-shirt for you kid. Alot of street vendors in the piazza. And if your lucky you may be there when there's a concert or mtv taping.

A bus from the train station will stop right in front of the piazza. Piazzale Michelangelo is located above Florence. Visit in the evening for the sun set view or visit in the morning for almost no crowds. Beautiful view of Florence at anytime of the day. Most aerial photographies of Florence were taken from this spot. Walk down hill... More
