Spend late afternoon in this citrus gardens. Didn't go inside. Lovely park with beautiful sculpture in the center. Didn't enjoy personal that was quite angry that we are so late there.

A visit to the gardens was a breath of fresh air after the busy streets of Florence and a wonderful introduction to the Italian Renaissance Garden design. A bus can be caught at S. N. bus station and from the drop off point it is an easy uphill walk to the garden entrance. I was surprised that entry was free... More

This September we made our way to the Villa Medicea di Castello, determined to see the orto which includes plants collected several centuries ago. A very helpful gardener arranged for us to enter this walled garden.

The garden is open to the public free of charge. (The Villa is not open to the public). It has a grotto, a tremendous range of citrus plants formally displayed in pots, plus fountains and putti. Excellent view of the garden from the balcony and above the garden a famous statue of Neptune.
