This was a beautiful building, but it's very small so it's a quick visit unless you really want to sit and study every detail so not sure it's worth as much as they charge for it. It was very crowded so it was difficult to get around.

The details around the ceiling of the Baptistry are pretty cool. Also, there are benches to sit on, and the building stays cool inside, so it is a good place to take a "break" while still viewing a really historic building.
It costs €5.00 to go in.

Sitting in the shadow of the Duomo, the Baptistry appears initially to be a lower level attraction compared to the vastness of the huge Duomo...but don't be fooled. If I had to chose one of the two, the Baptistry was hands-down the best of the two. The exterior...

You expect to walk in and see somewhat of a normal church but no - this tiny octagonal structure located just a stone's throw from the front of the Duomo surprises you once you pay the 3 euro entrance fee, it's so worth it. Facing the Duomo, you will find the elaborate door containing twelve panels, replicas of Lorenzo Ghiberti's originals, depicting important biblical scenes. This door was given the name "Gates of Paradise", by Michelangelo. Its a very nice attraction worth seeing and spending time viewing while visiting the piazza...
