Helen provided great narrative and cultural notes regarding the families and buildings of the city. Her background in Art History made the visits to the museums extra special. This is our 3rd visit but this was the best experience at the museums by far. So much better walking around with someone who is so passionate about the art. At the... More

We did two tours through Freya, one was a general Florence overture tour and the other covered the Uffizi museum. Our guides were Jo and Helen. Both were native English speakers which was great and they were absolute experts in all things Florentine and Italy generally. We could ask them which pope lived during which time and they knew it... Had a great evening tour with Riccardo! Since we (mom with 2 kids - 10 & 13) were ending a long, hot, Italy trip with only one day in Florence, I was looking for a casual tour to wet my kid's appetites for future visits. At this stage of our trip, the kids did not want to see another church,... More

I rarely write reviews but I have to write on for our tour with Beatrice. She gave an amazing tour and kept two adults and three boisterous boys very entertained! What I loved most was learning about the culture of Florence from the best places for gelato to cafe at the bar. Beatrice knows her facts and explained the history... More

We had Sara as our tour guide of the historical sites of Florence. She was GREAT! She gave us details on the Medici family as well as art works from the Renaissance period. She was very knowledgable and very personable. She was able to engage the interest of my 11 year old. I would highly recommend this tour and this... More

Suzanne was our American Tour Guide and she was so positive and enthusiastic. We loved how she engaged the kids (16, 19 and 22) in the art and history of Florence. We wanted someone who was articulate and could walk at a quick pace and pack as much into 3 hours as she could and she delivered! Thank you Freya's... More

We booked a 3 hour tour in downtown Florence, concentrating on MIchaelangelo. Our guide was an American expat, Sylvia, who was totally responsive and helpful, and intermingled facts and historical lore throughout this walking tour. The tour began at our hotel then off to the Oltrarno, the Piazza della Signoria, the Academia, and the Medici chapel. Highly recommended!

Lisa was our guide for the Uffizi for Families tour. She was extremely well informed, spoke perfect English and really brought alive the history and art Of the Uffizi. We have three teenagers and although the private 2 hour tour was expensive it was well worth the money.

Everything was smooth and lovely on a 3 hour tour with Joanna! We were 4 families with children ages 8-12. Our guide did a great job of keeping the kids interested, adjusting the content to the right level and showing all the great sights.

May 24, 2015 - Thank you to Freya and Elisa for putting together two days of custom tours for my husband who wanted a Dante's Inferno Dan Brown tour as we have been to Florence numerous times, and his brother and wife who were first timers. Elisa knew exactly what to suggest to keep the sightseeing itineraries interesting and new... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
