I had the opportunity to go to Galleria dell'Accademia on my honeymoon and I loved it. For a history or an art lover this is the perfect place. It has paintings from 11th century and different sculptures. Their main attraction if the statue of David. It was really impressive. Normally they don't let you take pictures, but this time they... Really enjoyed my visit to the Accademia, however as the title suggests would strongly recommend pre-booking tickets as the lines are pretty insane. I went with a guide and we only visited the David, the Prisoners and a few other paintings close by, but both my husband and I really enjoyed the experience.

This is an important museum of Florence, dedicated to the preservation of a rich collection of works of art of the late Gothic to the late nineteenth century. The highlight is the David sculpture, one of the most famous Renaissance sculptures made by Michelangelo. The work depicts King David (1040–970 BC) with impressive anatomical realism, is considered one of the... More

Great collections of arts. You can either book the ticket online (need extra booking fee) or but it when you arrive, which usually has a long queue and is usual to wait for 1.5+ hours, go early to shorten the waiting time.

Excellent museum full of art, musical instruments, busts, statutes and David. Use the Rick Steves guidebook and you will understand it all. My children really enjoyed the entire museum. Leave time to explore all of it. Don't just see David and leave like a lot of people do. There is enough art there that for younger kids you can see... More

This city full of art has so much to see and such amazing huge museums. This is a great and very manageably sized museum. If you only have a short time in Florence this museum is worth checking out because it will still leave you will time to explore this fabulous city!

This is a much smaller museum compare to the Uffizzi Well worth the visit if you want to see the magnificent David! Gets very busy, I will recommend to book the entry time online at the florence museum website!

Firstly David is amazing and worth the visit. The queue was not however!!! We entered the queue at 11:00, with no reservation (tip#1 pay extra for one), the queue was along the edge of the gallery, round the square and just onto the Main Street. It took us 1 hour to get round the square, and a further hour to... More

This is not a huge museum, ina city of many museums. However, setting eyes on "David", especially with a knowledgeable guide is the experience of a lifetime. This towering statue, a perfect specimen of male human anatomy, with an expression on his face that cannot be decribed, it says so much. If there was only one place in Florence I... More

No photo or description will prepare you for the sheer beauty of David when you see it with your own eyes. He comes alive and is worth the wait to get in. Beautiful from every angle. So inspired that am reading agony and ecstasy ..... Book on michaelangelo now.
