If you can schedule your day accordingly, I strongly recommend making reservations online. I wanted the flexibility to arrive when it was convenient for us and therefore make a conscious decision not to make a reservation. Subsequently, we stood in line for 3 hours (in the rain) before getting into the museum. Overall, the museum was disappointing. It's very small.... More

Otherwise, book your tickets in advance. I remember the last time I visited the Accademia, photos were not allowed, but now everyone seems to be photographing Michelangelo's David. I guess they have gotten more lax with the rules. Escape the crowds and explore the other floors. There's a great video on the process of panel paintings and gilded frames.

Did not reserve ticket and wait for 2 hours. The queue was not long - 30/40meters but with only 2 ticket offices and the 'skip the line' from the walking tours/groups/reserved made it inevitably long and bad. Bring a book or get something to do while waiting. But seeing the original statue was worth the wait (and the entrance fee),... More

Come here every time I visit Florence ...though it becomes more and more involved to do it. This time I called a few months in advance and made a reservation on the phone. The morning of our visit we arrived and there were already big lines. If facing the entrance the big line on your left is for group reservations,... More

Book tickets online ahead of time - this helped us skip the lines. The rest of the museu, was great, too.

Seeing the David was one of the major highlights of our two week tour of Italy. The rest of the museum pales by comparison, but the David is breathtaking.

Absolutely amazing to see David in reality. The genius of Michaelangelo is there for all to see. The queues were sooooo long ,though. There seemed to be three queues - 1.Part of an organised group/trip. 2. Tickets booked on-line. 3.Arrive and queue (11euro, can take several hours !!!!!!).All options involve queuing for varying amounts of time. There was a 4th... More

Upon a recent visit i had gone to go see the statue of David. My whole life i have always heard of the statue and how many people called it the "perfect man" because his beautiful and does not talk. When i then walked in and saw the David myself i was in a total awe! It’s absolutely marvelous and... More

I'm glad we saw this but it was disappointing not being able to take a picture. It looks just like the David in the square. Buy tickets online or you will be waiting in line for a very long time. Tickets are very expensive so unless you really want to see David, I'd suggest seeing the replica in the big... More

The line was long but since we were with my son in a stroller we managed to skip the line. However, one of the main rooms was closed off so we felt a little let down. The David was pretty amazing to see though but there weren't too many other things. Touring the museum maybe takes 45 minutes/ one hour.
