After seeing David up close in person, it made it easier to understand the dimensions and would make sense if it was displayed at a higher vantage point (i.e. as speculated, at Santa Maria del Fiore/Duomo). Also cool to see the works-left-in-process "Prisoners." Wish we had more time though to take in more at the Galleria, will definitely have to... More

Go early! By a ticket in advance from a legit company or the hotel. DO NOT buy a ticket from one of the scalpers hitting people waiting in line to get in. Go for a caffe or gellato after your visit. Takes lots of pictures!

The whole museum is amazing, but you're going there to see David, and so you should - because he's amazing. Definitely pre-purchase your tickets as the queues are long - even for pre-purchased tickets, longer for those who are queuing without the pre-purchased tickets.

Not much more to see in this Gallery apart from some unfinished sculptures by Micheangelo , but it doesn't really matter because the David is so awe inspiring.

Amazing gallery. A must for any visit to Florence. For all lovers of sculpture. David is truly one of art's great wonders. To get close & see the detailed veins on his hand & flawless curves is an inspiring experience.

Seeing the David in scale and being able to walk around it is well worth the price of admission. The intensity of his focus would be necessary to aim well enough, but also to do a great work of art. Michelangelo's unfinished pieces that line the corridor going up to the David are sublime as the figures wrestle to free... More

I'm writing for people with ordinary but not extraordinary curiosity in or knowledge of art, which is to say someone like me. If I only had one day in Florence, a visit to the Accademia, unless you can truly pop in and out without lines, would not be on my list of places to see. That said, if I were... More

The visited the museum by precooked online tickets. Although in the morning it was not a long queue, having tickets meant no early morning rush. David's statue was awe - inspiring. There are some other statues and replicas in the accademia worth seeing.
