In the Oltrano area of Florence south of Ponte Vecchio, is sits this very nice public square. Not as crowed as the squares in the tourist area of Florence, but still has some notable restaurants and bars. We met several locals while we were enjoying afternoon cocktails in one of the Terraces that line the square. In fact we enjoyed... More

Santo Spirito seemed to have different markets each morning. Early afternoon saw the restaurants start to occupy the Piazza, but most locals eat after 8pm! The weekend sees many of the younger locals gather to have a drink and socialize and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed! Great place to stop by between the tourist sites.

It used to be that the Piazza Santo Spirito was a rough place but no more. It is now young urban hipster and just a great place to hang and enjoy. An easy and pleasant walk from the main dowtown area. There is also a sculpture by Michelangelo in the church if that is of interest.

We spent a couple of evenings in the square as we were staying close by in the neighbourhood, we enjoyed sitting outside for food and drinks and taking in the relaxed atmosphere. It was a lot less busier than other piazzas in Florence but by far our favourite, there is a church at one end, which we took a look... More

Had an apartment at the Piazza and we loved it. Used to be a drug area & that's what you might read in old guides but it's not that way anymore… there's a police station right on the Piazza now and today it's just a beautiful place to hang out in the evening or go to one of the markets... More

First and foremost, the place is one of a few squares in Florence not full of tourists - mostly local people (particularly students) spend their time there. Piazza Santo Spirito remained genuine despite the growing tourism in the area. You won't find there neither notorious street sellers nor intrusive beggars. The place is just perfect for those who want to... More

The Piazza Santo Spirito was bang outside our hotel and it is a real place of action all through the day !, there are lines of Wine Bars with pizza and bread stores all around. The place also has a market occasionally with real bargains you can think of. A stroll around is quite refreshing and enjoyable. You could also... More

Unlike the fancy piazza's on the other side of the river, this is a really different place. It is rougher at the edges, quieter and has more locals. There are a few bars and cafes which are well worth eating at - they perhaps do not look like much but the food is great.

This small piazza south of the river Arno, 10 minutes walk from the Ponte Vechio in the Oltrarno area of Florence. You will see as many locals as tourist which is a good sign. Worth a look. Some good bar/restaurants in the area As well as the church in the piazza. Great place to eat.

This square was not busy at all or overrun with people trying to sell selfie sticks and umbrellas. There is a cafe in the square that has Nutella ice cream to die for!
