There is an open air antique market in the piazza. I went on a Sunday but I understand it is usually Saturday. There are some real finds here if you look closely and then again, it's fun to watch the locals browsing. Do not miss Aiello's porchetta panini (heated)! They are huge, succulent, bursting with flavor, crispy bread, for 4... More

Dont use the TA City Guides map. Not even close. 20 minutes away by walking. :-( It may be nice - it was rexommended by a Florentine. But get better directions!

If you want to get the feel of Florence's local life, Piazza Santo Spirito is one of the best places to do so. Buzzing with local life, this piazza is home to great restaurants (e.g. Osteria Santo Spirito), cosy aperitivo spots (e.g. PopCafe) and more. Of course, you can always hang out at the stairs of the church of Santo... More

Every guidebook or list of things to see and do in Florence lists Piazza Santo Spirito as the place to go for a local experience, describing a square overflowing with the cool kids of Florence endulging in amazing food and drinks. Of course any self respecting tourist thinks to themselves, yep I'll have a bit of that, mingling with the... More

If you want a real taste of Firenze, take and extra walk and cross the old bridge to the non-touristic side of the city and you'll have quite a surprise. This piazza will delight you with several choices to spend your afternoon/evening among the locals - there are several bars and restaurants, where you can have delicious meals and foamy... More

Great piazza across the Arno! With great places to grab a bite like Gusta Pizza/Panini and other small trattorias nearby, this piazza is large and adorable. It has a little fountain in the center. It is a perfect place to read a book as you enjoy the people walking by. It is usually tucked away from other tourists so hopefully... More

We have stayed in the Santo Spirito area twice now and both times absolutely loved it. Yes - it is bustling and at times noisy, but everyone congregates here - elderly ladies buying fresh fruit and vegetables on weekends, students getting together for drinks at night, shoppers looking for bargains, tourists passing through. It is one of the best places... More

We were taking an evening stroll our 1st day in Florence, and looking for somewhere to grab a bite. We wondered over to Piazza Santo Spirito and loved the look of the square. We decided to eat in the Piazza at Bar Ricci. We sat outside under big umbrellas enjoying a diet coke and Jack Daniels as well as an... More

The square is lovely, shops and restaurants are used by locals and travellers alike, as the sun sets the square is warm with a yellow hue, the best spaghetti ever is served in the restaurants
