WE came here twice. On the 3rd Sunday on the month their is flea market and during the weekday mornings there is local market. Both have very few tourists and its a nice spot for people watching. Also, nearby is a great restaurant CIBI, via delle Caldaie 12-14. very affordable.

A lot has been written about how this is a popular place for the locals who hang out at the bars for the happening night life here. Sadly, this is not true. There are a few bars here that are no better than other places. On the way to this place I saw better restaurants and bars and I was... More

We really loved this piazza as it was so relaxed, away from the tourist areas. We had read about a trattoria next to the churct serving apertivo every evening and we went there a couple of times. Most of the people enjoying a beer or wine while tasting the complementary apertivo were students or locals.

This is a great local hang-out spot to spend some time reading. If you go there in the morning, there is an outdoor market set up without all of the touristy stuff you see at the Central Market. They have a table of clothes where everything is only a euro. You will also find great prices on gifts and produce.... More

I had been here in the morning and I didn't like it so much. But when I've been there in the night with was completely transformed: Piazza Santo Spirito was full of people of every age (students & tourists)...all the restaurants, pubs, bars in the square were full... Very nice place to go and spend few hours with friends and... More

By far my favorite piazza in Florence. Found incredible restaurants 2 nights in a row in this square and afterwards bought some wine from local mini marts and drank in the square. Was an amazing vibe and lots of fun. Felt like a true vacation, away from the crowds and just relaxing in the city.

If you are sick of the tourists and the crowds, head over to Santo Spirito. Otherwise known as "the artists quarter", this quaint area is a nice reprieve. There are wonderful shops and restaurants and every morning a small farm market in the Piazza. If you want a "true" taste of Tuscan lifestyle, then head over to The other side... More
