Pretty quiet square

This square was not busy at all or overrun with people trying to sell selfie sticks and umbrellas. There is a cafe in the square that has Nutella ice cream to die for!

This small piazza south of the river Arno, 10 minutes walk from the Ponte Vechio in the Oltrarno area of Florence. You will see as many locals as tourist which is a good sign. Worth a look. Some good bar/restaurants in the area As well as the church in the piazza. Great place to eat.

This beautiful 13th century, tree lined square is always a lovely space. It transforms with an organic artisans market on some days, check times locally. I went on a Sunday and there was a lovely selection of homemade soaps (I bought some and they are great for sensitive skin), cheese, vegetables, bread, honey, etc etc all organic. There were also... Piazza Santo Spirito is a public square found in Oltrarno district of Florence that is popular amongst local residents and visitors alike. The piazza was created near the end of the 13th century and has served as a public space in front of Santo Spirito church since that time. There is a nice bit of character to be found at... More

A nice quiet square on the south side of the river, perhaps not on the usual tourist path, so good to 'escape'! A few nice bars and restaurants to enjoy there as well!

There is an open air antique market in the piazza. I went on a Sunday but I understand it is usually Saturday. There are some real finds here if you look closely and then again, it's fun to watch the locals browsing. Do not miss Aiello's porchetta panini (heated)! They are huge, succulent, bursting with flavor, crispy bread, for 4... More

Dont use the TA City Guides map. Not even close. 20 minutes away by walking. :-( It may be nice - it was rexommended by a Florentine. But get better directions!

If you want to get the feel of Florence's local life, Piazza Santo Spirito is one of the best places to do so. Buzzing with local life, this piazza is home to great restaurants (e.g. Osteria Santo Spirito), cosy aperitivo spots (e.g. PopCafe) and more. Of course, you can always hang out at the stairs of the church of Santo... More

Every guidebook or list of things to see and do in Florence lists Piazza Santo Spirito as the place to go for a local experience, describing a square overflowing with the cool kids of Florence endulging in amazing food and drinks. Of course any self respecting tourist thinks to themselves, yep I'll have a bit of that, mingling with the... More

If you want a real taste of Firenze, take and extra walk and cross the old bridge to the non-touristic side of the city and you'll have quite a surprise. This piazza will delight you with several choices to spend your afternoon/evening among the locals - there are several bars and restaurants, where you can have delicious meals and foamy... More
