For us the defining feature of this beautiful church is the display of St. Francis' robe and bible- amazing!

This is a really nice church. It's in a great condition. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but once you enter, it's a great surprise. The ceiling is not too full of paintings, but even at a glance has a certain balance, a harmony to it. Some of the frescoes have a weird looking Jesus on them though.... More

You get to the top by Car where you see this huge Holy Place. Its also a good place to park your car and walk down to Cortona. It takes around 30 minutes and you get to know Cortona thoroughly passing the University of Georgia's Faculty of Art. You also have a fantastic view of Lake Trasimeno and surrounding Villages.... This was another beautiful cathedral. But no crowds. We could take our time and enjoy the building and surrounding countryside.

Peaceful and not crowded. Not sure about the saint's relics - strange to see. You can drive up there but the hike is a good one with stations of the cross along the way. Inspiring.

As soon as breakfast was over we were set for a hike up to the to of this beautiful hilltop town, the hike was great and a stroll after dinner in the park was great, very romantic strolling along.

The Cathedral/Church was built over the remains of an ancient Roman temple. The Duomo is at the top of Cortona, a steep way to go, but worth it. You can see nice remains of original frescoes, stained glass and nice door carvings, From the little piazza you can overlook the panorama of the beautiful Tuscany

Interesting remains of original frescoes. It is very quiet and charming, with its own peaceful little piazza, which overlooks a vast panorama of the Tuscan landscape.
