Just as I imagined. The square where the Duomo is located was a perfect place to absorb all Italy has to offer.

A fabulous place to stay and visit. A gorgeous town with lovely restaurants, churches and snoopy's ice cream. Definitely worth a visit.

Arriving in Cortona by car from the north when the road divides below the town, turn right and park for free in the lot on the right. From there take the escalators(although only one of the two were operatingon the day we visited) that take you up the steepest part of the climb. You will land at Piazza Garibaldi and... More

As most churches and cathedrals go in Europe this is on the small size but it is every bit as eloquent and worth a quick visit. The view from outside the church is also spectacular. We went inside and there was a wedding in progress at 5:00 on a Wednesday and much to our surprise it was being conducted by... More

The duomo in Cortona is well worth a visit as it is smaller than most in the bigger cities and so more accessible. The interior is richly decorated and if you can then join one of the regular concerts and recitals there. The view from the outside over the surrounding countryside is spectacular especially in the evening.

For us the defining feature of this beautiful church is the display of St. Francis' robe and bible- amazing!

This is a really nice church. It's in a great condition. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but once you enter, it's a great surprise. The ceiling is not too full of paintings, but even at a glance has a certain balance, a harmony to it. Some of the frescoes have a weird looking Jesus on them though.... More

You get to the top by Car where you see this huge Holy Place. Its also a good place to park your car and walk down to Cortona. It takes around 30 minutes and you get to know Cortona thoroughly passing the University of Georgia's Faculty of Art. You also have a fantastic view of Lake Trasimeno and surrounding Villages....
