The beach has a calm and beautiful sea, but the sand (rocks actually) are covered by beach umbrellas. I loved taking the funivia (cableway) from the top of Taormina to get to the beach. Each way was only 3 euros. You can also make boat trips, i saw one guy charging 25 euro per person, but I didnt take the... More

Wonderful romantic site, perfect for a couple hide away, waterfront walk or lazing around in the sun on the beach.

Like I said in my title the parking was so bad that we drove up to Taormina and caught the cable car down. The beaches were nice, if you like that kind of thing, and covered with loungers which no doubt cost a tidy sum. We took a great boat trip round the Isola Bella and the grottoes, which had... More

A few restaurants and bars and catch cable car to isola bella. It's nice to walk around and we did have the most amazing gnocchi in one of the restaurants.

While the water looks clear and beautiful like at Isola Bella, I was really disappointed to see how the portion of sea reserved to swim was tiny and that the boats were literally in front of our face when looking at the sea from the beach. So we decided to not stay and we headed to Isola Bella instead.

To visit the main resort of Taormina which is situated above Mazzaro you needed to use the funivia at 3 euros per person each way. Mazzaro is situated on a busy road with paths and steps leading down to a beach.

Mazzaro is always a pleasant change from Taormina. Quiet, fishing boats, some beautiful hotels and Il Barcaiolo Restaurante!!! My favorite place to eat in the Taormina area!!!

We visited Mazzaro via the cable-car from Taormina and it was wall-to-wall sunbeds and umbrellas. If that's the type of holiday for you then you won't be disappointed, but this was only May, and I can only imagine how busy it would be in July/August. The bay itself is pretty and the water is very clear. There are plenty of... More

This was a pretty little beach with boats at one end. However, much of the beach was taken up with private lidos; the public area was very small indeed and among the boats. OK when we were there in May but it must be impossible in season unless you pay up for a lido. Access is not obvious. We walked... More

We stayed at Mazzaro, lower Taormina, for 7 days, swam, walked, bathed, dined, went up to upper Taormina on the cable car lots of times, to shop, sightsee, lunch. We hired a boat and looked around the nooks and crannies and swam off the boat. Loved the area so much we are returning this year. 10/10.
