great dome outside richer than inside...It is a mixture of different styles (Gothic-Catalan, Normans, etc.) but if you are interested in history check also the inside area. You will find the the tomb of emperors like Frederick the II, Constance of Aragon..lots of mosaics, heliometer (solar "observatory"), the Sacrament chapel decorated with lapislazuli and many other things. Located in Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the Cathedral stands on the site of a former Mosque and is dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption.
