This is the real Catania.

The Piazza is wonderful. Relax and have a gelato or a cafe. It has out door Eateries, to relax in and watch the world go by.

Big open space to get some sun, with some cafes on one side where you can sit a people watch. On the downside there are loads of street traders trying to sell you trinkets. A visit to St Agatha Cathedral is also a must

Interesting part of the city's history, and lively heart. Nice architecture and city planning to enjoy, with beautiful sight lines in various directions. Traffic is virtually banned from this square. But it also draws people who try to make money out of the tourists. Have a (free) look inside the Pallazo degli Elefanti and the Duomo cathedral.

It is probably much busier later in the year, but in late March this was a pleasant spot for a coffee at sensible prices. Clean, spacious and car free.

I absolutely loved spending time in the Piazza Duomo. It is the beating heart of Catania, with combinations of accordion music and choir music floating through the air, tourists and Sicilians soaking up the sun, and the most delicious cannolis and cappuchinos, with a great view to top it all off. I relaxed in this square as much as possible... More

Lovely square centrally placed in Catania. In the centre is the imposing elephant statue, the cathedral is an impressive building. Cafe Duomo is well worth a visit, the cakes, pastries and local delicacies are well worth trying.

It is a typical italian `piazza` where you can eat or spend time. Eat at Caffe Duomo, the food is very googd and not so cheap. It is also close to the fish market.

really Italian feeling, beautiful architecture around, fountains - Elephant fountain and Amenano fountain are real jewels, very characteristic and very original, worth to get up early to go to Amenano fountain and just behind you will see fish market - to my opinion one of most interesting places to visit while being in Catania.

Ideal for a cup of coffee (or better for a capuccino and a cornetto) whilst watching people passing by. A visit to the Duomo is a must.
