We have visited the theatre and were very impressed. Beautiful and unique place. We went to see a concert in the evening and enjoyed it very much. Manager of the theatre is a very special man, welcomed us in the most pleasent way.

A very nice theater. We had a guided tour of the theater, and as we were only two it was sort of private tour. Our guide explained everything very nicely and responded well to all our queries.

Sadly, we didn’t go inside this theatre, but the outside is amazing, with so much to see on this lovely building. Its a shame there is graffiti & the whole thing looks like it needs a clean, but well worth a visit. Some great cafes and restaurants nearby too.

Situated in the lovely Piazza Bellini, the opera theatre (named after Vincenzo Bellini who was born in Catania) is unusual in that the facade is built of red sandstone.

Sadly, the guided tours are indefinitely cancelled, but I asked nicely at the box office and the Manager took us into the theatre. I have worked in theatres in Australia, so I was particularly interested in seeing it, and it is simply magnificent. He also told us there was a concert that night commemorating the death of Bellini ,(what luck!).... More

Find it you must. It is everything you could hope for, from the rich six tiered levels of private boxes to ther rich decor and atmosphere. Guided tours are only on some days but even the exterior. On its own is worth the short detour. On our visit the exterior space had been taken over by Red Bull and Mini... More

The famous Teatro Massimo in Catania, another building is vital to this beautiful city. Recently I was in front of it in the square where it is located and where the evening is usually a meeting place for young people. Years ago I had a chance even to get inside. Beautiful inside and out.

Teatro Massimo Bellini is one of my favorite theaters, more than the theaters in Napoli, Budapest, and even Vienna! In my opinion, the box seats are better than the floor seats and the gallery because you have a private entry to every box, which seats six people very comfortably. Purchasing tickets can be tricky (many things here are not arranged... More
