Think a few of the reviews for these ruins are confused with the site at Taormina! This one is in Siracusa and is totally different! We went here to see these ancient ruins and entered the address in our satnav, to arrive at the bottom of the site and not at the entrance! We then had to walk all the... More

My husband I were on a 9 day Mediterranean cruise and Sicily was one of our stops. We took a tour of Taormina and visited this theatre. It was such a sight to see, especially knowing they still do shows there. I even found a playbill! How neat! We even met two people working on costumes for an upcoming show.... More

This is the second time we have visited Taormina. We wouldn't have bothered again, however, we were invited to a wedding (which appears to be a big business in the town). The Greek Theatre could provide some of the most spectacular views in the Mediterranean, unfortunately the vista is obscured by a stage or a screen, to be used for... More

The theater is all covered by wood panels to enable people to sit while shows are performed, great for a concert or play, but not to see the beauty of the place. They didn't even give us a heads up!

Information supplied by my guide tells me that the theatre may have originally been Greek, but due to may factors the theatre you see today isnt really Greek. Whilst the views from all sides of the threate (go behind the threatre and the coastal views are particually good) are fantastic, the theatre sadly isnt as good as i thought it... More

This is one of the best ancient theaters I ever seen. Better kept too. When you are there just imagine that on the very same place several millenniums ago Aeschylus had been sited somewhere among those seats, at the opening night of his tragedy "Prometheus Bound" that was performed at the Theatre. If you look carefully you will also be... More

We visited Taormina at the start of May and had a great time. We chose the resort because of its picturesque hillside setting, the charm and history of the streets and buildings and its proximity to the beach. The gardens and greenery were a bonus. Of course, a hillside setting means that walking could involve going up the odd incline but... More
