We had a lovely day trip to Isola di San Pietro. We drove to Portvesme from Cagliari - very easy trip (1.5 hours) with good roads - and left the car there and hopped on the ferry across to Carloforte. Ferry ride took around 40mins. We went in the off season, but the ferries were still frequent and a few... More

We caught the ferry from Portovesme on the only warm and sunny day of our holiday. We didn't take a car across and stayed in Carloforte for the few hours we were there. It's a delightful small town with narrow streets and colourful buildings and a wide promenade. The salt pan (no longer worked) on the edge of the town... More

Take your car on the Ferry and drive to the other side of the island. The town of Carloforte is lovely - although crowded in August - but there is so much more to see on the island. Take a picnic lunch and head off and find a less crowded island. Well worth a visit

The town is picture post card beautiful. Great to visit in the off season, very quiet. Nothing much to do so a few hours suffice.

We have been there last summer for a week and we had an amazing time! So different from the main island Sardinia, even the language is different and so the food. People are very friendly and welcoming. The town is so peculiar, very narrow roads and colourful houses. The beaches are just amazing, we visited a few and they were... More

...definitely worth visiting. The ferry ride from Calasetta is short and enjoyable. Carloforte, an ancient Phoenician town originally, is a picturesque fishing village today, consisting of small, well kept houses and geared mostly to serve the booming tourism industry of the appropriate seasons. Nevertheless, if you are not crazy about traveling a lot, just to swim and bathe abroad (as... More

Isola di San Pietro (San Pietro's Island) is a piece of heaven located 7 km off the South western Coast of Sardinia, and has one of the best and whitest beaches. Red tuna fish in the perfect cooked way is served along the many restaurants located in the coast. We ate at "Ristorante Al Tonno di Corsa" and it was... More

This little island is worth a visit, take the ferry from Calasetta to Carloforte which is a very pretty little town. The beaches are beautiful around the very attractive coast.

It was planned like a day trip from Cagliari by public transport. Public transport here is a mess, you never know when your bus arrives!it took 3 hours and 7 euro to get to Calosetta and 25 min and 9 euro one way from Calosetta to Carloporto by ferry. So I started at 10 am at Cagliari and ended around 1... Sardinia but culturally different due to historical reasons. Beautiful town (Carloforte) scenery and beaches. Read up about the tuna fishing industry before you go.
