This Basilica is the main attraction you have to visit in Cagliari, even if you´re not religious, like we aren´t. It´s not a “rich church”, as usual, but with,as most, a legend on his Foundation, related to a catalan merchant ship (behind the altar you can see a mural that refers to it). What we found really interesting was the... More

It is said that, in 1370, when a Catalan merchant ship got into trouble, its crew threw overboard its cargo. When a crate carrying a Madonna hit the water, the sea calmed and the ship was saved. The crate was washed ashore near the location of the sanctuary. Our Lady of the Fair Winds became a patron saint of sailors.... More

We just took an external look when our tour bus drove by. The church was said to be built in 1800 to the right sian old church erected by the Aragonese in 1324-1329.

Really nice old Basilica, worth visiting when in Cagliari. Easy to find, in the old town of Cagliari.

That church was so nice and with a really old story. Down stairs there are a lot of flowers with any kind of colour. The view from Basilica Bonaria is amazing!!!

My wife and I have seen a lot of Cathedrals and this is one of the best. It is not the largest but they went all out in the design. It is hard to describe and has to be seen. If I had the time I would like to know how they were able to build such a beautiful Cathedral... More

The site gives you a view of the sea and the port. Nice church, overlooking the sea, from there you can have a nice walk to the harbor and the via Roma.

I love this church, I was converted, had my first communion, got married here and baptised my first son here. This is not because it's local, it's because it's the best, it is a wonderful piece of architecture, the place itself, feels powerful significance in the history of the island and it's the church that the Pope comes to visit... This monument is not in the celebrated district of Castello. However, it is worth a visit: nice church, interesting museum, good souvenir shop. You can walk from the port - it's very easy and not far away, or take Linea 5, Linea 31 or Linea 30. Linea 5 takes you in front of the church. If you ride Linea 30... More
