A stunning traditional Italian cathedral, well worth the visit. Beware that there is a dress code; Men - no vests or above the knee shorts. Women - no legs or shoulders visible.

Definitely one of the most beautiful churches we have ever visited, and we have seen many, around the world. We were very impressed by the beauty of this Cathedral's interior.

Even though is not St Peter's in Vatican, the Cathedral of Santa Maria still makes a lasting impression. It has been recently reconstructed, so it looks brand new and ancient at the same time. Don't forget to visit the crypts. The entrance is on the left side to the altar.

There are lots of bigger cathedrals in Europe but there are not many that feature such intricate marble work. It is absolutely amazing and so unexpected. Coming from the street you would never image how beautiful it is from the outside. Definitely worth having a look

Visited also churches in Oristano and Alghero but liked this one the most. Just up the square is Torre di San Pancrazio, the highest point in the... More

Mostly when you enter any religious building of any faith, you can feel the religious conviction and fervour of those who built it, and the continuity from them to the present-day congregation. This cathedral was oppressive, dark and dismal inside, and reminded us of all that has been bad throughout the ages and even recently with the Catholic Church. Yes,... More

Church is magnificent , you need a hard walk to get there and the staff in charge of preservation look a bit unpolite, understandable they need control tourists and their dress codes, but it seemed all a bit exagerated
