The Maria Pia Beach is a gorgeous beach well within walking or cycling distance from Alghero. It's very clean, and well sheltered by the trees along the roadside, making it somewhat private and helping keep the wind to a minimum. More

I was here in May 2011. Beach is clean and the water crystal clear. Also great beach for people with little children. More

It's just an Intimate and idyllic beach, easily accessible by car. You park it in front of the beach under the pinetrees and walk the boardwalk for just a 100 metres or so More

Looks good in the distance, no daily maintenance on beach, sand is not cleaned. Too many chairs, no cushions. Too many beach sellers and fast food huts. No authentic italian snacks available. Locals overcrowd the beaches at week ends and dont pay for the sun loungers unlike tourists. Waters are crystal clear. Beaches nothing special, caretakers give the impression they... More

Instead of the crowdy Maria Pia, do rent a bike (or why not a car?) and go south of Alghero instead! Along th coastline towards Bosa, there are several small and very cosy bays, with sand or rocks, whatever! Don't forget the backpack - it's nice with a picnic on place! More

I was on a short two day trip in Alghero, July 2011 and I was amazed about the variety and number of beautiful beaches I could find. If somebody is going I would certainly recomend Alghero as an amazing weekend or summer holiday destination. Review of beaches: 2km from Alghero - Maria Pia Beach: Very beautiful beach, but terribly overcrowded.... More

I was disappointed to read previous reviews on Trip advisor that this beach was not up to standard following booking our hotel which overlooked this beach. I arrived with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised. The water quality was perfectly normal and was most certainly not dirty. I must admit the beach on the whole did smell a bit odd... More

I have been in Alghero, Maria Pia Beach, last summer. From end June 2010 till end July 2010. I know Alghero very well. It as been our summer destination for years, since I was a child. Alghero as never been the cleanest city in Sardinia. The beaches as well are not extremely clean, but this is the "guests" of the... More
