The stairs were impressive and a sight to see in itself, certainly worth the trouble (especially getting back up). The tour itself was good; we had a large group and it was difficult to hear despite the guide's microphone, but the sights are the most important part anyway. The advantages of taking the Alghero-Capo Caccio bus are as follows: - you can be 100% sure of seeing the caves. I thoroughly enjoyed going to the grotto, Instead of getting a boat trip I drove, its about a 20 min journey from alghero & is well signposted, also the drive, for the best part of it is along the coastline and is very scenic. you can park right by the entrance although I imagine its limited in peak season. there... more

I have to agree with the other reviews, we were in Alghero last year and took a boat trip to the grotto. The sea was actually too rough to get into the caves but they still took us out , just around the bay. Apparently they do this all the time so as not to miss out on your money,... more
