We had gone to Murano the previous year & were not impressed. We loved Burano-the colors made it a sight to see. People were friendly & the Al Gatto Nero restaurant was fabulous. Seemed like mostly locals eating lunch. From the second we walked in the staff made us feel at home & the food was great. Wine-water-2 courses for... more

Burano was a great idea I took off tripadvisor. I chose to go there on our (my wife and I) 3rd day when things to do started to slow down. It took us 45 minutes to reach using the public transportation. There are two station from which you can depart. one from St. Marc (takes around 1:15min) and the other... more

My wife and I spent of one our three days in Venice by hopping on the water taxi to visit Murano and Burano. We probably only spent 1-2 hours on Burano but it was well worth it. Seeing the gorgeous colours of the homes, and wandering the streets and shops to see the lace being made and just to soak... more

Well worth the extra time on the quick vaporetto from Venice. We started off in the morning for Murano and had a look around, but decided to continue on and timed it so that we would be in Burano for lunch. It is a nice ride on the boat and such a beautiful island. The colors , the colors, the... more

Like Murano ... don't miss Burano. This very colourful island is very quaint. Burano is about 30 minutes by Ferry from Venice and every bit worth it. Away from the hustle and bustle of Venetian streets - it is filled with colourful houses and charming little cannals. You could easily take half a day to casually walk around this little... more

I was really not too interested in visiting Burano and SURPRISE, just loved it. Our drive over was on a private launch and did not take too long; I think about 40 minutes or less. It was very interesting to see the older women working on the lace and visiting the lace museum. On the main street, we found a... more

I looooved Burano. The trip to the island took much longer than I was told (~2 hrs from Venice vs. the 40min I was told). It was well worth the journey. I love tiny fishing villages and this was just that. I had lunch at Ai Tre Ponti and it was without a doubt the best pizza I had in... more

Burano is unlike any other place I've ever been to...and it was the highlight of my visit to Venice about 6 years ago. I found Venice to be too touristy, too crowded, and to be somewhat overrated. We shelled out a ton of euros for a gondola ride for the hell of it, but it wasn't that amazing either. I... more

This is such a lovely calm place that it's well worth seeing, just wander around and admire the lovely colourful houses. Only 45 minutes from Fondamente Nove. Most of the lace is made in Hong Kong or near Florence by Chinese women so make sure you've got a Burano lace certificate to prove its authenticity. Burano lace is pricey as... more
