From the very first meeting with our guide, Venice became like an old friend. From sharing an espresso to the magical sites, Igor and his team are your first stop :)

Igor was an excellent guide who took us on a several hour walking tour of the quiet squares, back streets and local markets of Venice. It really brought the city alive to see life as a Venetian, rather than just a tourist. He is an informative and generous host, and great company! We strongly recommend that you take the opportunity... More

Igor spent a whole day with us walking around the less traveled areas of Venice. We discussed the history of these areas. He was very knowledgeable and fun to be with. I highly recommend him, and his company. He also arranged a car service to take us to the airport the next day.

Igor Scomparin wrote me back immediately when I decided to go to Venice, some seven months before he led me through the amazingly wonderful streets and canals of Venice. His English is perfect and his love of his native city infused the tour history, gossip and fun. And even though the hotel I was supposed to be staying at changed,... More

Very good service. We were not dropped at our hotel door which we knew could be a possibility, but driver could have given us a little better directions for the short walk to our hotel.

Igor showed us Venice through the eyes of a local and it was great. From local book stores to the most beautiful hospital I have ever seen the tour was everything we were hoping. We would have missed so much in Venice if we had not done this - it's so worth it!

Igor Scomparin is my man in Venice and the surrounding area. I've been in the business of arranging custom and small group tours of Italy for 16 years now, and I've never met a more reliable, knowledgeable guide than Igor. Highly recommended (particularly if you have kids who are bored with the "usual stuff") are his "Hidden Venice" tours (for... More

We used Tour Leader Venice for our transportation from the airport to the cruise ship port and also for the walking tour of Venice. The correspondence via email was prompt as we set our plans for our first cruise to Europe. The plane arrived an hour late but they were there with our name sign as we exited the airport.... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
