My family did a two hour walking tour of Venice with Igor. It was a highlife of our recent trip to Italy. We asked Igor to take us off the beaten path and he did just that. My three teenagers enjoyed being with Igor as did my husband and myself. It was great getting out of the crowds of Venice... More

Igor is very easy to communicate with. He set up our transfers to/from VCE, and organized a boat tour for us. While we did not meet Igor himself, the people he arranged for us were prompt, professional, and knowledgeable. I would not hesitate to use his services again.

Igor grew up in Venice and gave a lot of history and his perspective while we walked around the Ghetto and surrounding areas. He also gave lots of recommendations for restaurants and how to use the water taxi or bus. Highly recommend his walking tour!

We used Tour Leader Venice for our airport transfer when leaving our ship in Venice. Our driver, Mike, was waiting for us as promised, right at the port exit. He was very professional and courteous, helping us load our huge cruise luggage into a very modern and clean van. We arrived at the airport in perfect time. I would recommend... More

Igor provided us with a fabulous 3 hours exploring the real Venice. He took us away from the normal tourist paths to the places the locals frequent and to those places the casual tourist will just miss. He kept all of us, including our boys (aged 13 and 11) fully engaged throughout. We found out so much about this amazing... More

What a great time! We enjoyed an unbelievable three hours with Igor touring Venice "off the beaten path". What was best about the tour was how truly engaged Igor is...how he truly seems to care about the experience you are having. Get this...a little light rain and we ducked into a coffee shop for a few minutes to wait it... More

I began corresponding with Igor about a private tour of Venice for my husband, 12 year old son and myself about a month prior to us arriving in Venice. Igor was fantastic at replying to and suggesting a wonderful itinerary that would encompass all that we wanted to see in this fantastic city. The day of our tour Igor met... More

We were referred to Igor and his tour company through another friend who had used him. Igor was kind, on time, very informative and attentive. We enjoyed our tour around Venice and he was able to cater it to the areas that we wished to focus on. Igor took care of our transportation to and from the airport which was... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
