DiscoveringVenice is run by Antonella, Eugenia and Federica. We are Registered Tourist Guides since 2000. We offer a wide range of private tours. We also offer semi-private tours: a perfect way to share costs with other travellers like you. The private tours we organize can be either on foot or by private boat (Gran Canal, small canals, islands of the lagoon - Murano, Burano, Torcello). We are keen to organize customized exclusive tours to make you discover the "hidden Venice" and its back-streets, as well as the monumental classic Venice.

We had a great introduction to Venice with Patrizia. We spent 2 hours one day visiting Doges Palace and St. Mark's. We loved it. The next day we spent 4 hours wonderful hours that included a 3 hour walking tour of Rialto and other neighborhoods and then a 1 hour boat tour of the Grand Canal and more. This is... More

First of all we were impressed by the very personal way of communication. It was proper conversation and not just filling forms and no- reply answers. The tour itself was excellent. We learned many things about Venice and about life in Venice and we enjoyed the visit to San Marco and the walk through the back bridges and canals, where... More

Thank you Patrizia for the wonderful morning. My wife, 2 children (11 and 13) and I had an excellent introduction to Venice--you were able to really bring the city and its highlights to life for all of us. And your personal stories were a wonderful addition. We'd highly recommend you to anyone!

We got to this tour while researching Trip Advisor. Two adults, two kids (15 and 11). Three WONDERFUL hours that went by in a second, visiting the Doges Palace, San Polo district and an hour by motorboat. I can't speak highly enough bout this tour. We loved it. Patrizia was great, from arranging the tour, to meeting as at our... More

We had a great introduction to Venice with Patrizia. Since she is a local, she knows here way around the city very well and was able to show us places that are not common for everyone. Very well organized; she adapted the tour to our family needs.

I would highly recommend Federica as a private guide in Venice. We spent two hours with her at St. Mark's and Doges Palace and she was thoughtful, thorough, informative, open, upbeat, knowledgeable and all around a lovely person to be with. It was well-worth it to be with her to get through the lines quickly and to be able to... More

We had the great pleasure of sharing a day with Federica on a private walking tour of Venezia. We highly recommend this tour- it is personalised to what you want to see and having a local means you get to see the true Venezia. Federica is so knowledgeable, loves her job and made us feel so comfortable; we cannot speak... More

Patrizia Bracceschi was a fantastic guide for our 3 hour private walking and boat tour of Venice! We saw everything we wanted to see and did not have to wait in the huge line to visit the basilica. She was great with the girls (15 and 11) and extremely knowledgeable about her city. We would highly recommend this experience.

We booked a 2 hours semi-private walking tour of Venice through DiscoveringVenice (found through Tripadvisor). There were 4 people on the tour (my wife and myself and another couple). The tour was excellent and the tour guide very knowledgeable. We visited St. Mark's square and church, walked through various streets and ended at the Rialto bridge. By the end of... More

We had a wonderful tour with Frederica! She is articulate, thoughtful, and knowledgeable. We were able to drown out the crowds and really enjoy the experience. It was fantastic!

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
