DiscoveringVenice is run by Antonella, Eugenia and Federica. We are Registered Tourist Guides since 2000. We offer a wide range of private tours. We also offer semi-private tours: a perfect way to share costs with other travellers like you. The private tours we organize can be either on foot or by private boat (Gran Canal, small canals, islands of the lagoon - Murano, Burano, Torcello). We are keen to organize customized exclusive tours to make you discover the "hidden Venice" and its back-streets, as well as the monumental classic Venice.

This was our first time visiting Venice and we were only visiting for 2 days, so we decided to book a private 2 hour walking tour and one hour boat ride with Antonella. We had a wonderful time! We easily found each other in busy St. Marks Square and proceeded with our walking tour. We were able to bypass the... More

Thanks go to Federica for organising a brilliant tour of Venice for my girlfriend and I. Having never visited the city before this was an excellent way to learn more about the well known spots such as the Doge's Palace and St Mark's Basilica but also to be shown areas that you would be unlikely to find on your own.... Having appreciated the value of having a private walking tour when my wife & I visited Pompei last year, I persuaded my friends to hire one when we visited Venice in May, and how lucky we were to find such a professional guide to show us around and tell us all about Ventian, life, culture and history. Federica met us... More

Thank you for such a wonderful tour Antonella! My mum & I thoroughly enjoyed your informative morning packed with all things Venice! The group was small & personal, easy to hear, the sights were beautiful & the price was so reasonable. I’d certainly recommend this to anyone wanting to feel the real Venice :)

We had a very strong desire to see, Venice, in it's real sense, the popular spots and the everyday Venetians spots. Our ship did have tours, but I found them to be uncomfortable with 48 people going on one tour. "That was not for us". We discovered a Venetian tour guide, through Trip Adviser, her name was PATRIZIA. We booked... More

We met our guide Antonella in St Marks Square where she explained the history and environment of Venice. We visited the Bacillica San Marco wich was breathtaking and then tou red the Castello Distinct where Antonella, described life for the venetians past and present. Very informative I would highly recommend.

We had a private walking tour and boat tour of Venice with Federica in the afternoons of June 11 and 12, 2015: three hours on the 11th and two hours on the 12th. Federica was such a delight! She was very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. While we already agreed on what we wanted to see, she also brought us to... More

Federica was our guide for the 3 hour tour. I can honestly say it was the best one we've been on. Federica was so knowledgable, fun and easy to be with, spoke perfect English and was passionate about her home city. It was definitely the highlight of our stay and lived up to the reports I read on Trip Advisor... More

Antonella met us at our hotel, a good start. She answered all of our questions fully and with obvious feeling of her love for her home town. It was a pleasure to be guided around the district of Dorsoduro and to discover many things that we would have other- wise missed. Subsequently we returned to Venice a few days later... More

We spent a fantastic morning with Antonella exploring the backstreets of Venice by foot and the waterways by private taxi. Every minute of the three hours was valuable and Antonella was so flexible, pleasant and knowledgeable. A brilliant start to our Venice experience.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
