DiscoveringVenice is run by Antonella, Eugenia and Federica. We are Registered Tourist Guides since 2000. We offer a wide range of private tours. We also offer semi-private tours: a perfect way to share costs with other travellers like you. The private tours we organize can be either on foot or by private boat (Gran Canal, small canals, islands of the lagoon - Murano, Burano, Torcello). We are keen to organize customized exclusive tours to make you discover the "hidden Venice" and its back-streets, as well as the monumental classic Venice.

The 7 of us including my parents (70's yrs) and children (8,11 & 13 yrs) had an excellent 3 hours with Antonella as our guide. In our first 2 hours we went through Doges Palace and St Marks then had an hours boat ride. We all had a great time, I would highly recommend Antonella as a brilliant guide round... More

Antonella met us at our hotel and discussed what we wanted to see since it was raining. We had not yet stood in the long line for the Basilica, so we added it to the list since she had a pass to avoid the long line. She provided us with lots of interesting information. that we would not have known... More

We tried to book with them, but they were booked. They did recommend a private tour guide they work with & we had Federica Fresch. She was amazing! She met us at our hotel and we toured Doge's Palace as well as other famous areas. She gave us tips and recommendations and lots of great history of the area. We... More

Patrizia was our guide for a three hour private walking tour of Venice. She met us in our hotel lobby right at the agreed upon time and escorted us through the narrow and somewhat confusing alleyways of several Venice neighborhoods. We skipped the line and toured St. Mark's Basilica, strolled through lovely Campos and finished with an hour long private... More

Great Tour in Venice. We booked a 2 hour private tour with Federica and she was great from the start responding all my emails. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. She also gave us tips for good restaurants. Highly Recommend

Patrizia was a wonderful guide through Venice and the Doge's Palace-which was sensational and well worth seeing! Patriizzia was incredibly knowledgeable and personable and made our trip to Venice so enjoyable. The boat ride afterwards was equally fun. Venice is a beautiful city and we highly recommend this tour and tour guide.

Leaving the well walked path of tourists in Venice was an excellent escape. We spent the afternoon touring churches to see architectural differences and art. Her explanations were wonderful and engaging. Federica made the day quite enjoyable. We ended our afternoon with a boat tour of the canal and learned about the history and the current uses of the buildings.... More

Federica knows everything about Venice and had answers to answer all our questions - even if they were a little off topic. She asked us about tours we had booked in the future and proposed a small change to our itinerany with her so we could avoid overlap and also showed us to a beautiful restaurant for lunch. She never... More

I stumbled across Private Walking Tours whilst researching my weekend break in Venice - and boy oh boy am I glad I did! From the moment I emailed my enquiry I received excellent service. I was offered a choice of guides who were free on the day we wanted our tour and chose the lovely Patrizia Braccheschi. Before we left... More

Three of us were guided by Federica through the Doge's Palace. Her knowledge and insights brought the visit to life. Federica was excellent throughout, tailoring our two hour tour to suit our interests. I was initially dubious about the value of what can be a fairly costly tour for a small number of people, but It quickly became obvious that... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
