My name's Luisella Romeo and I am a registered tourist guide in Venice. I run SeeVenice and offer private and semi-private tours in Venice and to the islands in the Venetian lagoon such as Murano, Burano and Torcello. You can also book walking tours in the city, both orientation tours and itineraries along the off-the-beaten paths. My wife asked Luisella for a music tour of Venice and she came up with some excellent choices. She first took us to the Vivaldi museum which is by appointment only and then to the Music Hall which is clearly a hidden gem that few people know about or visit. Luisella's knowledge and enthusiasm are unrivalled. She engaged all of... More

Luisella is a legend. Born and bred in Venice, she combines a local's knowledge with an overall understanding of Venice's place in history. Her tour was the highlight of our weekend. On our trip she led us to secluded churches, secret squares and hidden passageways, telling the story of each as we walked through them. If you want to escape... More

Tie together great charm, an encyclopedic knowledge of the history of Venice, sensitivity, humor, and reliability, and you might... just might be in the excellent care of our guide, Luisella. My husband and I have taken many guided tours but none have ever equaled the excellence of this delightful, brilliant young woman. We took two tours with Luisella (a general... More

My 9-year-old and I did a 2 hour guided tour with Luisella this week. I asked her to focus on the history of Venice e.g. Why, who, when, how ? and she did exactly that and more, in such a way as to make it engaging for both adults and children! We both really came to understand the colourful past... More

Well, I'm not going to be the first to give Luisella anything but 5 stars. There's no reason too. She is an excellent guide and also very helpful as you plan your trip to Venice. I had booked her, due to the reviews here, several months in advance. In fact, she joked how far in advance. We did a two... More

Luisella is easily the best tour guide we've ever used. We arranged all the details of our tour of the Doge's Palace and St Marks by email with Luisella before our arrival. Luisella met us at our hotel and the three hour tour passed incredibly quickly. In her company the time just disappeared. Luisella is not only incredibly knowledgeable but... More

Luisella is a lovely guide with a very pleasant personality. She's very good with adults and with kids, as she knows every nook and cranny of Venice and obviously loves it. She knows a tremendous amount of interesting history and facts, and her English is great. She's a sophisticated person and her enthusiasm is infectious.

We have a fantastic walking tour of the City and then a Canal Tour. Luisella gave just the perfect mix of detail on history, architecture, and current events. The latter detail on how the City works today really made the City come alive, as opposed to just being viewed and appreciated as a "Disneyland-ish" setting. I would and will recommend... More

Luisella came highly recommended on TripAdvisor and as such, we booked her ahead of time for a tour of parts of Castello and San Marco on our second day in Venice. We were not disappointed. Our time with Luisella was both informative and enjoyable. First, I would highly recommend taking a tour when in Venice (or anywhere really). I learned... More

Staying in Giudecca

Neighborhood Profile
Giudecca
Giudecca is a retreat for Venetians away from the crowds. Symbolically, six metal teeth represent Venice’s six sestieri (districts); the seventh, Guidecca, points away from the others – part of Dorsoduro, but separated by the Giudecca Canal. Giudecca evolved from a center of shipyards and factories to a quiet residential area with a sprinkling of restaurants and bars. The majestic harmonious Redentore church stands as thanks for delivering Venice from the plague, hosting an annual heartfelt festival.
