I was a little reluctant to visit after reading the negative reviews on here but as we were in Venice and probably won't be back for a couple of years, my wife talked me into giving it a try. We weren't disappointed at all. It was just a small room and was a little shabby but it's an old drinking... More

I went in 2013, so things might have changed? Yet my personal experiance was filled with excitement. Me and my partner had a lovely time here. As we entered the bar from the rain. The staff asked if we were ok they looked the part, very smart. We only had a coffee (to wait for the rain to blow over)... More

I wish we'd read Trip Advisor before going to Harry's Bar. It was such a disappointment - a small shabby bar, with no view and very little if anything to recommend it. The prices are beyond exorbitant. Although the Bellini was nice, it wasn't cold enough and was served in the sort of glass you would drink a mineral out... More

Well, in some ways it sort of serves me right. I place a lot of faith in Tripadvisor reviews....so really should NOT have bothered to visit Harry's Bar. Reading the self-serving blurb on their webpage you'd think you're about to enter Paradise... reams of text describing how a glass should look and feel, the intricate procedures on how to transform... Cool place with history and great hangout place to people watch. Hard to find the first time but a place I would go back to as clientele changes regularly.

We went there because is a "have to go" place for my friends, but I was deeply disappointed with this place. The expensive prices for beverages is explained because you are paying the brand and the experience, but honestly this is a sad and decadent bar, the wood panels in the bar are ruined, the walls need some paint...more over... Harry's Bar may be living off its Laurels. Harry's Bar has been an institution in Venice -founded in 1931 by Harry Cipriani and claims to be home of the original Bellini, made with the famed Limoncello liqueur. I try to be fair however Are most afraid to admit that the emporer is naked? Harry's is small, crowded, uncomfortable and extremely... More

This is a nice little bar but very pretentious. €22 for a G&T! You have to wear long trousers after 6pm so we were allowed the privilege of one expensive drink before it was clear that we needed to leave...

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
