You've seen it in all the pictures so seeing the Grand Canal is a must-do!!! The colors against the water and the beautiful boats everywhere - it is just magical. Grab a Spritz and do some people-watching - it's an amazing place to be!!!

Head over to Piazzale Roma either at sunrise or sunset and hop on vaporetto no. 1, pick a nice spot on the water bus and enjoy a 45min ride down the Grand Canal. No. 1 stops at each and every station and then goes over to Lido so it really gives you a chance to see and experience the colorful... More

I've been to Venice 4 times, but have never traveled the Grand Canal with Vaporetto before. We decided to buy 12 hrs unlimited Vaporetto pass this time, mainly because we thought it would be easier (and more exciting) for our kids. It turned out we were right. The 12hr ticket cost 20€ per person (kids under 6 ride for free).... More

I just simply love it! The whole experience is brilliant! The most relaxing short break I have ever had! Just go with the flow and enjoy every boat rides and you can walk a lot too! We have discovered so many little bars and cafes and restaurants in all these little side calles and canals.

Be aware of pick pockets and the rude people who don’t bother with queuing. Try to get at the side so you can take your photos on the move, front is better but its like a stampede to get there.

We took a boat ride in one iof the water taxis (as part of our tour, but I'm sure you can find a way to purchase this). Do you remember the movie "Tourist"? So if you have seen this movie - you'll be glad to see the set with your own eyes. If you haven't seen the movie - do... More

We loved hopping on and off the water buses , which are efficient and cheap. But be warned to check on the notice board, because when they say three stops that may well be in the direction you have just come from ...great fun

This is one of the most exciting thoroughfare's I have ever seen, go and see it. Completely mad seeing public water-buses alongside gondola's.

We were all set to pay for a gondola ride, but actually found we had just a good view from the Vaporetto. Line 1 takes you all the way from one end of the Grand Canal to another.
