The Grand Canal is absolutely amazing. It is very busy with gondolas and water ferries but it is colourful, has character and a romantic area on the canal.

We used the Vaporetto (water bus) almost every day and saw new things all the time. From the station (Ferrovia) to San Marco you pass a palazzo every few minutes. The architecture is amazing. The side canals are full of interest. In the early morning with the mist on the water to the evening when the water sparkles from illuminated... More

Grand Canal is busy and crowded like you are on a highway. It never gets boring, because of the hundreds gondolas, boats, taxis and other vessels. You shouldn’t miss the opportunity to enjoy the Venice from the Canal. The best view is from the cruiser, you cannot beat the Venice panorama from the 15th floor!

its worth taking the time to jump on the #1 route Vaporetto which stops at every stop and enjoy the view. Take a look up the side canals and enjoy watching all the traffic on the canal.

If you have time ride the vaporetto either the 1or 2 in the evening up or down or both the Grand Canal. Even if you are not a romantic it is fabulous with all the palazzos lit up at night.

The canal is overcrowded by boats competing for tourist dollars but it remains the best way to see the fading glory of the sinking city. Just do it and check the block.

I love Venice, and of course, the Grand Canal is the heart of Venice. I only had three days there, and it wasn't enough for me. I will be going back, and I will stay on the canal again. I just love the place!

The city of Venice is amazing, and just the concepts that it's a series of canals make it worth visiting. The Grand Canal was great to see, and despite the tourists, we had a great time. Take a Gondola tour in the evening (we went about 8 o'clock). It's expensive, 80 euros in the day or 100 euros at night,... More

We rode the water busses twice, very fun just to be able to see all the buildings along the Grand canal.
