Cheaper than paying for a gondola ride (about 30 euros a person for an hr ride). The tour is a max of 10 ppl and includes a tour guide (the tour is supposed to be in English); however, the tour guide speaks incredibly fast so half of the time I couldn't hear/understand what she was saying. Also, the boat arrived... more

The grand canal is the Venetian motorway. The buildings on either side are just amazing as each one is different and smothered in history. There's one thing, you can't come to Venice and miss it!!! Just to sit and watch all the various boats going up and down: no up way or down way it's surprising there aren't any collisions.... more

The Grand Canal was amazing I loved it even though you might think it’s just a canal… its not its the surrounding and the scenery and all the gondolas that add to is greatness. Specially when you go over the bridges and stand and watch its just really beautiful n so romantic :D… luckily it was a really sunny day... more

The only way to experience Canal Grande at your own speed is by kayak. It is not at all difficult, as long as you follow the local rules of engagement and take some care. There are no kayak rental places in Venice, but there are places that will take you on a paddling tour with a guide, or you can... more

Having brought our 3 day combined bus and waterbus ticket Mum and I decided to make the most of it by journeying up the Grand Canal by the number 1 waterbus. It enables you to take in the Ca d'Or (Venice's 15thc gothic palace), the Museo dell Settecento Veneziano (Museum of 18th Century Venice), the Gallerie dell Acadamia (14th to... more

Even though most of the buildings are in various stages of disrepair this is what you think of when you think of Venice and we could have cruised up and down this thing for hours just taking in the sights. more

If it's your first visit to Venice you'll no doubt want to travel on a Vaporetto down the Grand Canal. If you are not in Venice as a Day Tripper, and uf you can resist the urge to make it your first task I would recommend taking the trip in the late evening when most of the crowds have dissapeared.... more

The Grand Canal -and anywhere in Venice-is beautiful and unique. We are a family of 5 and traveled all along the canal with a vaporetto pass- all the way to Lido. It was wonderful, you can get on and off at many different spots- some stops are busier than others, of course but we were always able to see. We... more

Bought a 24 hour pass and took the number one bus down the Grand Canal. It was a great way to see the city for a very cheap price. We were there the last week of September so crowds were much less than in the height of summer. Got a seat at the back of the boat on the outside... more

It was a great time taking the gondola ride in Venice. It was 70 Euros for three of us for a 45 minute ride. It is expensive, but there are many different companies that offer rides, so just keep asking until you get the cheapest one. The first guy we asked said 100 Euro, the next said 90, then the... more
