I walked pass the Duomo a few times. Because it looks unfinished, you not likely to consider it to be much more than a large parish church. I've learnt that most churches in Padua are on the plan side. The Duomo is rather plain inside also. However, it is worth a look as it is quite nice. There are no... More

Outside it is unfinished and inside it is very plain large building that looks unloved. The square outside was not interesting and this clearly is not a tourist spot which was sad. It is however worth a visit

Pádua or Padova( in North of Italy ) , is a very nice City between Verona and Venice, and is in the middle of the way (and the real North of Italy) :) Think in " leaving Milano " by car, and ride throut Garda Lake, Padova, Verona, Treviso, Venice, and then go UP North , to Cortina D'Ampezzo. This was only two minutes from the centre of Padua and is a stunning cathedral. There were no crowds and it was a serene atmosphere. Fantastic architecture and art.

One of the simple Cathedrals that I have visited in Italy so far. There are a number of statutes around the church, the décor is simple but the atmosphere quite serene and peaceful. There is a marble altar where the pulpits are held by marbled sculptures - one had a golden face encased in the marble figure and is spectacular!.... More

Visited some interesting destinations, especially Isreal?palestine. Egypt was taken off the itinary due to the troubles. Food was so dissapointing. It mostly looked fantastic , but was either cold, tasteless or plain dreadful. Our cabin, a mini suite was for 3 of us. we had to keep asking for towels and glasses as it was made up for 2. Crew... Padua fulfilled my expectations, because I did not expect too much. Also, I did not expect that the city is pretty big. However, there is nice Duomo on the relatively small square, but it fits perfectly.

It was very quiet and hot Sunday afternoon at Piazza di Duomo in Padua. However, it was relaxing to see another excellent piece of Italian medieval architecture.

The cathedral was boring, the windows modern, the facade unfinished, and the worst contemporary scupltures adorn the altar. If you like beautiful cathedrals, go to Parma.

An impressive church in a classic style initially designed by Michelangelo. A peaceful retreat from the crowds that fill oter more popular destinations.
