Wonderful historical side to Padua

It would be so easy to get caught in the industrial and business side of Padua, need to get some balance to understand the town's history and this is one good example.

This is only 1 room but what a room!!! It is the biggest freestanding hall from the mediaeval period and is covered, walls and ceiling, with fascinating frescoes in great condition. There is also an amazing wooden horse sculpture from the 14th century which could be new. When you walk in, it looks lifesize but when you walk to that... More

This square transforms drastically from the morning to the evening, so check it out in the morning and at night if you get the chance. They will be completely different experiences.

This square is breathtaking, especially in summer when bars have table outside. You have to stop for a spritz there at the sunset.

In this place you will find a spirit of Padova. Before you will start visiting historical center of Padova it is good to read little about it:) Then you will be much moore satysfied while exploring Padova.

The clock and architecture are interesting, but certainly not unique. There are many more interesting places in town. Yet, this and many other lesser attractions combine to make Padua worth a visit.

Visited the piazza in early evening-nice to see people strolling and enjoying the square. I would like to warn people that I was pick-pocketed on the 20 minute tram ride from the Santo stop to the Padua train station. I am vigilant in protecting my belongings but these thieves are professionals that do this on a daily basis. Please, beware!

There was a third class organic market in the Piazza when we visited on Sunday. So it was not possible to enjoy its natural beauty.

The clock in this square is one of the world's oldest, showing 24 hour time and via a rotating edge also the current sign of the zodiac. The edge plate only has 11 signs (scorpio uses double space), either because the builder used Egyptian astrology or because the city ran out of money and the builder took his revenge! The... More

loads of cafes on this square, crowded with students (it's a univeristy town) with numerous Gelaterias including at least two eco-friendly ones and a large astronomical clock on one of the towers.
