San Lorenzo has an extraordinary cupola (completed in 1680) designed by Guarino Guarini and exemplifies the baroque style. The Duke Emanuele Filiberto had the church dedicated to the Saint after the victory of the Battle of San Quintino. In piazza Castello. « less

The facade of this 17th C church is deceptive, there is no obvious church door entrance. This was to maintain the architectural uniformity of Piazza Castello. San Lorenzo is next to the gates of the Palazzo Reale and its cupola is easy to see from the middle of the square. Building began in 1666 and it was inaugurated on 12... More

When you get there, looks like being in a secret treasury church in Rome, even though you are in Torino. The church is very dark, and its eight sides are so geometrically full of meaning that you can't resist to going exactly at the center of it, and, resisting vertigos, enjoy this ode to simbolism that Guarino Guarini donated to... What else would you expect from Guarino Guarini. Has to be seen. No words can describe it. More

Beautiful small church full of ornate side chapels with the interesting dome. When you enter, there is a "foyer" area where there are paintings and copy of Rome's Holy Stairs on the right. More

Beautifully ornate church. Open and friendly. Restored twice in last 20 years for viewing of the Holy Shroud. This is where everything is at. Full size copy of the shroud and other religious relics for open viewing inside sacrecy. Enter the church, go through the first set of doors. The sacrecy is on the left. Enter and it is the... More

Royal family of the Sardenia Kingdom built this church. Yes it is very beautiful and easy to visit because it is located at the Castello square. However, do not miss La Consolata and the Duomo, too. They are just marvelous. More

As the previous reviewer states, don't judge it from the outside. Inside it is the most beautiful church I have ever seen. White, Green, Grey and Yellow marble all over. Beautiful statues including John the Baptist and the Apostle Paul. Statue in the Foyer phenomenal, wish my picture could do it justice. I would highly recommend you go see this... More

Don't miss this church very close to Royal Palace. Neither the facade nor the dome seen from the outside can give you an idea of its beautiful interior. I think it is one of the best baroque churchs in Europe, and recently has been restored. More
