Crystal clear waters were amazing. Some of the local villages were great to walk around and do a little shopping.

Lake Orta is a romantic pace especially when staying in San Giulio. You feel like stepping back in time in the little town, narrow roads and friendly people. There's not a lot to do, a trip to the monastery and nice walks, otherwise sitting and relaxing with local bar snacks and chilled white wine is just a perfect way to... More

A short boat ride from Stresa to see the 12th century old Basilica on the Island of Saint Giulio. Small, quiet, amazing historical island.

For me the stunning Lake Orta with isola San Giulio and its Benedictine nuns church is all truly, for me very special. To begin with when arriving by boat to the beautiful old and untouched town,an artist could spend a long time trying to capture the old buildings and narrow passages full of atmosphere. For the fit there is the long high... We stumbled upon Lake Orta as my husband was attending an event about 20 minutes away. What an unexpected delight. Tranquil, quaint village spectacular scenery. Wouldnt hesitate to go back. Definitely a great "chill out" zone.

This was an unexpected surprise. We were with a hiking group and this was one of our destinations. There is a wonderful shop -... More

Quaint restaurants, great scenery, shopping. Worth at least a day trip. Visit the nearby Sacro Monte.

Lunch next door at the Ristorante or hanging at the Venus bar in the village. Great shopping and eating and all that great wine. Their are hotels and apartment... More

THis was the last stop on an Italian Lakes tour which was appropriate. The small size of the lake and towns and relative lack of tourists gave time to pause and reflect on the wonderful sights seen and experiences enjoyed before back to the daily routine.
