The little island deserves a visit, though fifteen minutes in the church and fifteen more minutes walking the available paths on the island will cover the visit. 5 minute boat ride to and from the village. More

This is an ancient village on an island - only accessible by boat. Only one restaurant and maybe one shop. A few inhabitants - but lots of great old buildings. Best viewed from the shores of Orta San Giulia if you want lots of excitement in your life. But if you enjoy getting lost with your camera in an environment... More

Everyone who visits this little island is enchanted, but there is more to enjoy and admire here than beautiful views and the charm of an old Italian village. The church is a treasure house of art works covering several centuries. Don't miss thr artifacts in the crypt and pay special attention to the Romanesque pulpit: https://picasaweb.google.com/100384772395112415486/OrtaSanGiulioTheAmboInTheChurchOnTheIslandAndThe12thcCapitalsAndCrypt#. For about $4 you can take a taxi/boat over to the island. There really is not much to see on the island other than the church and a few minutes walking around. Most of the island is private homes and gated off. The beauty is being on the water and approaching the island. More

The Island of San Giulio is settled in the middle of the Lake d'Orta. It's a pearl and a paradise for those who are seeking for meditation and beautiful sceneries. Almost all the island is occupied from a monastery. It's a short walk around. I was seducted by the silence (it's a place of meditation) and the sound of the... More
