They have Saint Ambrose's bones on display. Certianly not every day you get to see something like that. Stay for a Mass if you have time. Ambrosian Rights Catholics sing much more of the Mass.

Quite a few interesting pictures, but the one I particularly wanted to see of The Boy Jesus in the Temple was in a part of the church where you had to pay 2 euros but fortunatley there were other things to see there as well. Also a very old gold and silver altar but unfortunately too far away to see... More

this is nit one of the most famous places that I have visited over the years, but it is my favourite place in Milan. Quiet, calm and peaceful. the alter is spectacular but the cloisters are the place to find peace and quiet in this amazing city

This place feels so different from the baroque piles scattered around Milan. A mostly plain brown brick structure which emphasises its ancient roots. Inside it feels sparse and unadorned, until you see the amazing 9th century gold altar and the stunning 13th century mosaic behind it. The church was heavily damaged during World War II, but has been carefully restored... More

This is a beautiful church a bit off-centre. It has a great atmosphere. It is worth to study all the details of the sculptures in the courtyard and inside.

This was our second visit to S. Ambrogio and we made time especially to return. There is so much to see but make sure to tour the very ancient section with artifacts from early century Christianity. There is a small fee for this. The crypt under the altar where the Patron Saint is laid to rest was particularly wonderful to... More
