The line to purchase the ticket was long and the service was slow. It was very hot in the sun and no shade was provided at all. So allow for time and avoid the heat if possible when purchasing a ticket. The views are very good from both sides was well as on the top. Really is a must if... More

We sat and had coffee here watching the world go by. The square is very busy from 10 till 2 and always happening at night. Be aware of the street vendors full of selfie sticks. Well worth a visit.

The square gives a beautiful view at the Duomo. I didn't think the many many sellers at the square were very annoying: if you said you don't want anything they just went on. On side streets there are much little shops and cafés. Tip: go to the square when it's dark! There are much less people then and the Duomo... More

This center is the heart of Milano so it was too crowded. You can get some drinks at the cafes near duomo center and enjoy the shows of street musicians.. By the way there are a lot of people trying to sell you selfie sticks. They might be sticky sometimes.

Whilst in this square, you need to be really careful for pickpockets. The police presence wasn't strong enough compared to the amount of suspicious people staring and walking around you. IMPORTANT: the second you walk out of the metro station non-local men will rush up to you and start putting on a BRACELET for you. They will tell you that... More

We had very little time to spend in Milan but we decided to come here because it's the most important plaza. Very beautiful, took pictures in front of the Cathedral which has wonderful sculpture work in it's facade.

A pretty square with the fantastic and very photographic Duomo. Be careful if you are hungry or thirsty as it's a considerable walk until you find something reasonable. In some places it can cost you 8 Euro just to sit down.

Beware of men carrying a bundle of strings with west African accents. These men approach a child and will tie a string around their wrist indicating it is "good luck". They then demand money to the tune of several euros. Have not seen this scam in other European cities so beware in the tourist areas of Milan especially. The men... More

Staying in Centro Storico

Neighborhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
