Before seeing the opera, we were treated to a reception in the Opera Museum. This sets the tone for the history to be made. The museum is full of instruments, costumes and portraits of the great artists, and by the great artists. We saw the new production of ORFEU, Orpheus, by Robert Wilson. What an amazing experience--the theatre is gilt... more

We didn't splurge for the actual opera, but we took the 5 euro tour of the small museum. On that day they were allowing people to take a peek into the theater from a seating box. The orchestra was just warming up and we got to see a bit of rehearsal! It was fantastic. The theater is absolutely gorgeous. Hope... more

We recently attended an opera at La Scala.. We were told that we would be in the rear seats of the box. At almost $100 per ticket, I assumed we would at least see the stage.. Little did we know that from many of the side boxes, you cannot see the stage if you sit in the rear seats. They... more

If you are going to see a concert, I am sure that La Scala would be an excellent experience. I had a difficult time trying to get tickets and ultimately failed. Nonetheless, I entered the museum and if you are an opera/music/concert enthusiast, this is the place for you. Otherwise, I wouldn't go back unless I were able to get... more

I loved my visit to La Scala. The opera house was everything you would expect--lots of pomp and circumstance (the ushers wore white gloves and big "La Scala" medallions), wonderful performances, and of course the stunning opera house itself. But like a lot of European opera houses, there is no pretense of a seat equaling a view. Many seats are... more

We have been trying to go La Scala for several years, but whenever we found an opera or a ballet for which we would dearly have loved to have bough tickets, it was always of course sold out. Frankly I had given up my dream of going there. But then to my astonishment I managed to get two really good... more

We ordered expensive box seat tickets through La Scala and were five tiers up in the third box from the stage, directly over the orchestra. The sound was great but the sight lines to the stage were terrible. Each box has a foot wide, velvet covered ledge projecting from the railing in front of the box. The ledge effectively blocked... more

Stunning opera house in the classic European style. My partner and I went for his 40th so splurged on a box. We had the expensive tickets, which gave us the front seats, but there were two people who had independently bought tickets, which while they were in the box, only entitled them to stoolds at the back. They had to... more
