Using the ferry to travel to all three Borromini islands is a great way to spend the day. You of course can travel a lot further. A couple of great places are :- The Villa Taranto which has beautiful gardens and Ascona which is a lovely Swiss town on the lake with lots of good shops and many artists.

Get on and off at every island - a day ticket will make it possible to do this. It must be a sunny day. Of all the islands, my favourite is Isola Madre, with its lovely botanical gardens, restaurant, historic villa to visit, and its free-flying collection of tropical birds, which are quite enchanting. Come here in April when the... More

This is a well run operation that provides tours around Stresa. We visited a few of the islands nearby and found we could catch a boat every 30 minutes to return. We bought our tickets at the boat launch area. Lines can be long in the morning so be prepared. You can buy in the morning and use anytime throughout... More

Great experience, good service friendly captains. Went to two of the islands on separate days. Much nicer than the large ferry that I thought was too crowded.

We had a very good day visiting the two islands (Isola Bella and Pescadori) and Stresa with the taxiboat. We have booked from the camping site and had our pickup also at the camping site (Isolino). The islands are very nice to visit. I want to thank the organisation from the taxiboat, because on one trip we forgot our camera-bag.... More

We opted for this service instead of the larger ferry. You can pretty much tailor your trip to wherever you want to go for different prices. We used it to go to Isola dei Pescatori and then an hour and a half later they picked us up, promptly and took us to Isola Bella. Very convenient.

We took a day ticket on the official Navigazione and visited the 3 islands at our own pace; in July there is a boat almost every 30mins (except some in the early afternoon). No entry tickets are included in this price, so if you want to visit Isola Madre (must do; beautiful garden and castle), you need an additional fee... More

These water taxi style boats are the best way to get around the islands and villages. Run regularly and easy to travel on.

Spot on. The boats run to time and are the best way to get around the lake. The seats on some of the boats (the boats are all different designs) were cheap plastic and uncomfortable, but the journey times are short.
