I have no head for heights, and initially thought 'do I really want to put myself through this agony?' Really pleased I did, the views especially on the downward journey were stunning.

Worth every penny even if it looks a little dilapidated. Make sure you pick a clear day and go on all three stages of the cable car. The park at the top is well worth a visit.

Ride the chair lift all the way to the top! Not sure I would stop at the halfway point to view the alpine gardens. There is an additional fee.

The funivia is actually two rides, one halfway up the mountain to a botanical garden and bar (we didn't visit) and a second the rest of the way to Alpyland and the top of the mountain. The view is, of course, stunning, over several lakes and over into Switzerland. But the weather moves fast, so if there are clouds in... More

A must do if you are in Stresa. The view is amazing. The chair lift for the last part is a little scary if you are afraid of heights. We took the chair lift up but walk down a path on the way back to get to the cable car.

This is one ratty cable car compared to the others I rode on our trip to northern Italy. The people running the attraction were fairly surly also, maybe because it was late in the day. Perhaps if you go early, and the day is sunny and bright, you can appreciate the views. Going late on a somewhat overcast day did... More

The views on the way up and down in the cable car were difficult to see, due to sheer number of people crammed into the car. What glimpses you could see were marred by poor visibility, as the windows were very scratched and dirty. The views from the top however, were pretty spectacular, and we chose to walk the last... I would have liked to know what my options were if the woman at the counter had refrained from her constant conversation with her workmate 5 metres away. Don't know about the structures but the cable car looks old kit (especially when compared to the Swiss). Got to the top and walked to the chairlift, which is fairly new and... More

God they cram em in it reminded me of Japan's railways. It's a horrible ride just a noise of people trying to talk over everybody else. It's swings like its gonna break. I had to change my underwear afterwards. View from top ok botanical garden ok but €4 each the ponds in the garden only had mozzies in em. Uncomfortable... More

Great views from the summit but check the weather forecast before you go. Take a sweater too. The temperature can be much less at altitude.
