A beautiful view of the lake and the Alps

The cable car is well designed. We stopped at one height. Another height was a walk up. The latter was fine. The view is stunning.

I just visited (February 2015) and the Mottarone cable car was closed indefinitely! Locals were saying that they weren't sure when it will be running again due to problems with funding for necessary repair work. I ended up hiking up to Mottarone ~ a 4 hour hike through the snow, at 22% incline (at times). Not for the faint of... More

Fabulous views and if you go right to the top you can many of the lakes all around. Beware the cable car closes for lunch!

Just happened upon this great little place. A bit scary, old and rundown looking for Americans, but still so beautiful and fun!

We took in this attraction as part of a deal with Riviera Travel in October 2014. The fee per adult was 38 Euros and I thought it well worth the money. The only negative about this attraction was that the cable cars are somewhat tired and in need of modernising. Also, you stand up for the entire journey, which can... More

We saw some incredible views, but on the way down we were too slow and we missed the cable car We had to wait for the next which was one hour and spent it in a mediocre café bar

We set out early in the morning and took the two cars and chairlift to the top. The air was misty, almost ethereal on the way up but we still enjoyed some lovely views and managed a few nice pictures. We arrived around the same time as the peleton for a local cycling race and that added a bit to... More

The views of lake maggiore in Stresa are gorgeous no matter where you look but the ride to the top of the mountain overlooking many lakes and towns in this area should not be missed! There were great views in all directions for miles.

For us this was a bit overrated. The cable cars are in dire need of upgrading. We did however enjoy our 38 Euro ride up and down the mountain and then the 2 seat chair-lift to the top. Quite exhilarating when you have fear of heights! Do visit Albergo Eden for refreshments on your way up or down, very reasonably... More

If you get the opportunity this is well worth a trip. Two levels by cable car then 2 person chair lift or walk to the top (not that far). On first stop you can go on a short walk to see the Alpine Gardens (a bit small and there is a fee). The views, especially if you can get a... More
