We visited the castle whilst we were holidaying in Sirmione My husband climbed to the top of the castle to take excellent picrire from there, and said it was well worth the small entrance fee

Basically you are paying 4 euro to climb the stairs to the top, walk along the walls, and view the pretty blue water. Can be accomplished in 20 minutes. There is nothing to see inside and only one description of the castle in English. Best admired from the outside and possibly send in one person to take photos of the... More

This imposing structure can be seen from most parts of the city and is such an important part of the skyline. No visit to Sirmione would be complete without a visit inside Rocca Scaligera. If you are unable to climb a lot of stairs, there is still an opportunity to go a little way up and walk around the walls... More

We visited on a day of a national holiday. So it was very busy. We had to park the car some way out of town and walk in, but that was fine and also meant we avoided the expensive local car pak. The castle is just brilliant, 4 euros entrance and is worth every cent. The veiws from the tower... More

Small entrance fee is well worth it for both an hour or so touring the upper levels of this old fortification . Good views over the town and lake . The only negative is that there are a lot of stairs and little room for a two way flow of people . This is an unusual town which juts out... More

A visit to Sirmione comes with at least a sight at the Rocca Scaligera. An impressive well maintained building which brings you in the right mood to visit this wonderful old town. Try the fresh fruit from the green house 😀

We took the ferry over from Desenzano for the afternoon. For four euro entrance fee, we were able to explore the castle. It is in good condition and we climbed many steps to see every aspect of the castle. It is beautiful. The views are amazing!

It's not so often you can find a castle built on water. When I say "on water", I mean that it's highly integrated with the lake - channels, bays etc. There is a great view from the tower to the Garda Lake as well to the Sirmioni city. Finally, it's the fauna. Huge fishes swimming around the castle, ducks, swans... More

My wife and I have long wanted to visit Sirmione and see the Rocca Scaligera, the Grotte di Catullo, walk around the peninsula, and see what we could of Lake Garda. Our plan was to visit while staying in Verona. We found an hourly service on bus LN 026 from the bus depot next to the Verona Porta Nuova train... More
