Beautiful view of the lake. The garden itself is well-maintained but it has a lot of bugs. You'll snap some breathtaking photos here.

This is a beautiful garden about 10-15 minutes from the Varenna ferry terminal, very close to the Hotel Villa Cipressi. I only saw the gardens and skipped the actual villa. The gardens offer an amazing view of Lake Como. I loved the design of this garden. Unfortunately, many of the areas were closed off so I think I wasn't able... More

Think a few folks are mixing this up with villa cipressi - this is the further one heading out of town Five euro for just the garden as this was all we did - I thought it was worthwhile

Steep garden, beautiful setting with some unusual botanical specimens. However bedding out with annuals almost Victorian and unimaginative.

The plants in the gardens were very nice and well-tended, but several entrances were closed so the only way in and out was in the same location...made for quite a long walk and a redundant one, could have been avoided had not the other exits been closed off for repairs or something.

The house is not always open for inspection as it is primarily used for conferences and other events but the lakeside gardens and views are lovely. It is only a short walk from Varenna's square. Also take a look at a similar garden next door at the Hotel Villa Cipressa.

We were staying in Bellagio and took a day trip to Varenna and Mennagio. We really enjoyed Varenna, but especially enjoyed the Gardens at Villa Monastero. It was a bit of a walk from the ferry terminal, however the walk was filled with amazing history and views. Very easy to find as well. We payed only for the Gardens as... More

The villa id nice but it is tge garden to me which is the most beautiful. The garden hoes along the water way and provides great views of the lake as you climb along the path. Glass of wine as you watch the sunset is a must.

Castle ruins upon the ill overlooking the whole lake. Stiff hike up from Varenna. Worth it to work off a little of all that Italian food you have been eating. Takes about 20 or 30 minutes of hiking up from town. Ladies don't wear heals as the trail follows an old cobblestone trail. Cost a few Euro to get in,... More

Very nice garden with opportunity to pay extra to visit their museum. You could take the option of walking alongside with a view down to the gardens from the above road.
