One would never guess how beautiful the gardens are in springtime unless one actually walked thru the portal and into the lush vegetation, sculpted pathways and incredible views offered at this attraction. The building was closed when we visited on a Monday afternoon, but we didn't care. Our senior discount of two Euros each made this one of the top... More

A few steps from the Villa Cipressi these gardens are not to be missed. The best attraction in Varenna. A small fee is charged but this is well worthwhile. Toilets are available.

My husband and I came across this garden by chance when making a fleeting visit to Varenna. This has to be the jewel for anyone looking for peace and tranquility against the bustle of Bellagio. Wonderful gardens, beautifully cared for. The house is only open on certain days so check in advance if you want to visit the house too.... More

Well worth the entrance fee. A great place to relax and view the gardens. Did not get a chance to visit the house as we chose a day when it was closed

I didn't tour the Villa buildings, just the gardens. Although things had not hit peak tourist season yet, the flowers and statues were beautiful, and well maintained. I was surprised how far along the water the gardens extend (seemed like almost to the next town!). There's a great view of Varenna as you walk down the waterfront within the gardens.

Despite arriving in Varenna on a Sunday we didn't realise that the house was not open during the week, the sign on the door doesn't make this plain, although the web site does. So we only managed to wander the beautiful gardens, on a warm sunny April day. Bit of up and down stairs, but looking towards Bellagio, across the... More

The botanical garden is beautiful, not mobbed with tourists and not expensive. We were there in April not on a sunny day and spend a couple of very tranquil hours among the exotic trees and enjoying the panoramic view of lake Como.

Villa Monastero and its gardens were like stepping into a dream. Pay the small fee to view the house museum and take the morning to wander. It was one of the better gardens Ive ever seen and would be a great spot for a wedding or event!

Went there to relax in the gardens for a littele bit and to listen to the waves beneath the old trees. The property is not too big and the inside of the vila has some interesting old furniture. We found the sculpted mirrors to be something special. Was a good visit for us, especially for our little child.
