We had a perfect morning/afternoon with Morenno and his lovely family. Absolutely no scrimping on the experience, we were guided through the making of herb and ricotta tortollini, fresh pasta, a beautiful veal joint, and a saffron risotto. Morenno is a truly authentic chef. His love of food and flavour shines through. And like all great chefs, he recognises the... More

This is my second year with Chef and it did not disappomt. The man accommodates every kind of diet. You will never be hngry. For 54 Euros you get door to door service, coffee, wine, cheese and crackers, a sweet, the pasta dish, vegetables, a meat dish, plus risotto, though he does different dishes. Chef Moreno is so patient and... More

We were picked up in the town square at 10:30 and returned to town at 5:30 after an amazing cooking lesson and meal. We were 13 strangers, but with Chef Moreno's charm and the abundant wine we were quickly all friends. Watching him cook- boning a veal loin, making pasta from scratch and an amazing caponata was a wonderful experience.... More

Good communications from Cher Moreno prior to our holiday, met by the ferry in Varenna at the appointed time and transported up into the hills above Lake Como. Our lovely lady driver was so informative about the village and the surrounding area. On arriving at Il Caminetto we were warmly greeted by Chef Moreno and his daughter and provided with... More

We spent the day with Moreno learning some of the finer points of traditional Italian cooking. Making pasta and filling for tortellini, including their folding and shaping, risotto and a lovely salmon pastry were on the programme. We learnt so much about other Italian food and associated customs. The whole day was so informative yet pure fun and we ate... More

Had so much fun cooking with Moreno! My friends and I were picked up and brought to the restaurant which was extremely convenient. Moreno was extremely charismatic and fun; his cooking skills and demonstrations were thorough. Although the clas was more of Moreno cooking, we got to help make the pasta. A must do in Varenna!

Not to be missed. Communications beforehand were very good. We were picked up via van in the piazza as scheduled and the drive around the hairpin turns up into the hillside village was itself a memorable experience. Arrive with an appetite and leave with new friends and a deeper appreciation of local cooking and a family's love for its village... More

The highlight of our trip was a day spent with Moreno in one of his cooking classes. Communication before the day was very good and we were picked up from Varenna ferry dock at the time agreed and driven up to the restaurant which is located on a hill in a very picturesque spot overlooking the lake. The host, Moreno,... More
