Magnificent Duomo

Worth looking, stunning architecture, tapestries, paintings, stained glass windows, marble, statues - it has it all! May borrow a scarf to cover shoulders and legs for modesty.

Lovely church, with interesting interior. Well worth a look if you are in Como. Peaceful and a little oasis amidst the tourist business.

The style of the church is Romanesque. What a lovely church. The Duomo is dominated by Juvarra's Baroque dome. The sculpture on the Gothic facade and the Porta della Rana door were executed by Tommaso and Jacopo Rodari (1500). The nave and side altars are decorated with 16th century tapestries and canvases by Ferrari and Luini. It is beautiful and... More

Well worth the visit to see the Duomo. It is great inside and beautiful outside. It stands very high and you can see on the Lake and Funiclore.

Stunning gothic cathedral in the centre of como Beautiful late example of fine Italian gothic architecture. Unbelievable ceilings and tapestry. Fortunate to be there when the organist was practicing.

We have visited some awesome cathedrals /Duomo over time and the one in Como compares so well. It is beautiful and just seems right! It is not one of the larger Duomo but has a great feel to it as well as having amazing architectural features. A must see while in Como

Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta better known as Como Duomo is a blend of different architecture designs and styles. As the cathedral took 400 years to build and its possible to see the progression of these architectural and design elements. On the facade we see Romanesque arches along the lower level, the beginnings of Gothic embellishment in the carved figures... More

The Duomo is simply beautiful, well renovated and easily accessible in the middle of Como. It is also worth spending the time and admiring every detail of the facade.

The cathedral is very beautiful, both inside and out. It is free to visit. I felt that the uplit museum-like information boards inside were unnecessary and detracted from the charm of the place.

Visiting Como is a must with its square and the restaurants facing the Duomo that should be visited. A magnificent church almost as beautiful as the Duomo of Milan!
