This cathedral took centuries to build, so take a few hours out of your day to go see it. Having a guide of some sorts will help you appreciate what went into the design so don't just walk thru it. We did it with a walking tour combining the last supper, it was well worth it.

This is considered the last gothic cathedral built in Italy (late 18th century). In fact, it shows quite some baroque influence - one for all, the main dome by the great sicilian baroque master Juvara. The overall effect is a gentle and not dramatic gothic. The interior has not much to show; however, the outside appearance is enough to put... More

After exploring most of Italy, and possibly visiting every church in the country (I am a church visiting fanatic) you think that there can't be another which will make me smile, but the cathedral in Como holds its own against the others. Well worth a visit.

Highly decorated ceiling, not much religious atmosphere - too many tourists. Interesting sun dial on exterior.

I was happy to spend a few quiet moments just to sit and soak up the beauty of Duomo Como and trust that it is beautiful. You can see the Cathedral from a distance but It is definitely worth an up close and personal visit.

It was a surprise to find such an impressive and large dome in a small town like Como. The building is large, the exterior and the interior are not too rich in ornaments, I'd say that the focus was on the ceiling (truly elaborate and lavishly decorated) and in the details. No stained glass windows, from what I could tell,... More

The Duomo stands beautifully in the centre of Como. Almost more impressive from the outside, but its worth a visit.

Central Como is an interesting partial wall-in old town with fancy shops! We even went to Thursday Flea market and lucked out with satisfying shopping for Made-in-Italy factory overuns. Cool breezy Cathedral becomes our oasis to give thanks to Our Lord for good health and safe travel. The marvel of human engineering and wealth of Duke of Lombardy are for... More
