Beautiful cathedral, well worth a visit, read the information about the place just inside the door. Very tranquil place to sit, even with all of the tourists around.

The Como Cathedral is scaled just perfectly for the size of Como and more importantly for its beautiful presence on the town square. Built in the Gothic style, construction began in 1396. When it was eventually finished in 1770 it was topped with a Rococo cupola. The dramatic west facing (square facing) front was built between 1457 and 1498. In... More

As Cathedrals (Duomos) go the one in Como is very nice. It has superb stained glass and all the other accoutrements one expects when you wander into a Italian Catholic Cathedral. What is nice is that it is scaled down and impressive without being overwhelming. As is the case elsewhere, the Duomo is located on the old town's central square,... More

Along with the historical centre of the city, the Cathedral is a small gem of art that deserves a visit.

A lovely cathedral with pretty stained glass and beautiful ceilings, this easy to find cathedral is worth a visit and free to enter (though donations are always gratefully received). Remember to bring a scarf to cover your shoulders and no short skirts/shorts.

A beautiful piece of architecture which is central and easy to find in Como, although not as magical as the Duomo in Milan, it is still a good sight to see.

From the outside its easy to get the impression from the amount of marble used in the construction that the interior will hold some surprises. The ceilings in the central longitudinal section are highlighted with vivid blue motifs, while other areas have ceilings highlighted in gold. The white and black marble used on the floor is also striking but the... More

Another great cathedral in Italy but no small wonder in the small town of Como. I included only one photo of stained glass but you need to see them all to appreciate the wonder of them. This may not be the largest church in Italy but it certainly has beauty to match the others. Go see it.

Beautiful white cathedral at the very centre of Como on a very touristical square. If you look carefully you can see the random mixture of marble that makes it unique. Look for the toad at the back yard and ask for the leyend!
