Although you can walk all the way up to Bellagio but I would recommend you can consider taking the Funicular up, then walk for another 30 mins to the Faro (lighthouse), which have a even better view of the Lago Como - well, you can easily spend 2-3 hours uphill.

This is all about the views from the top The Funicular itself is a long ride from bottom to top and good value for money. The only let down is that it is not organised in an orderly fashion (but then this is Italy) so you get a bit free for all over getting on board when it arrives. The... More

We traveled to Como town from Bellagio by the ferry. Getting to the funicular is very easy as firstly you can see the steep funicular path carved up in the mountain and secondly because it is very close to the ferry terminus - about a 10 min walk along the promenade. There are a couple of gelataria shops on the... More

We sailed down the lake from Lenno on the fast boat and walked along the water front(left out of the pier). There are places to eat and drink along the way. The fare is very reasonable 5.50 euro for two up and back down. There are not many seats on the train but the journey only takes about 7 to... More

We took the funicular up the mountain as the sun was slowly setting. The trip was beautiful and the view over the lake, town, and surrounding mountains was stunning. A truly romantic experience, as we enjoyed a glass of wine at a restaurant at the top.

This is an inexpensive and easy way to see Brunate and gain an aerial view of Como and the Lake. There are many walking tracks from the top - or you can simply take in the view and enjoy lunch, a drink or a gellato.

There's an excellent view from the train. Only disadvantage is that in a hot summer day it is HOT in there in a crowded train´but it does not take long... You can spend a whole day in the top of the hill and walk to the lighthouse or even further (higher). Do notice that it is all uphill so hot... More

There is only one way to visit Brunate and the Volta Lighthouse and that is via the Funicular Railway. Within easy walking distance of the centre of Como it is an experience not to be missed. Even my wife, who is terrified of heights was impressed by the smooth ascent and descent, although a little exhausted by the trek up... More

Went up early in the morning and this definitely was worthwhile. Hardly no one on board in the middle of July! Well worth the trip to the top. Fabulous views and only 5 euros.

Great ride up and down. The new carriages are air conditioned and bright. A much better way to get to Brunate than by car!
