This was a waste of time and money as far as I was concerned. The coaches were overcrowded and once one arrives at the top there is not really many clear view sights to look down onto the landscape of Como. I went up walked approximately 15 minutes and immediately returned to the lake.

The funicular gives access to Brunate and impressive overviews of the lake, Como, Cernobbio, and with a good telephoto lens the Villa Olmo and Villa d'Este. Take a hike to the lighthouse following the marked trail (including sections of an old paved road, which parallels the new road) to get a taste of mountain travel before automobiles.

Definitely make the effort to do this if in Como. Very nice in the dark as you can see the lights of the city. When at the top it is worth the walk to Voltas monument (you can see this from the lake) it is up hill and you will need a reasonable level of fitness. Best to follow the... More

Unique experience to walk the streets of the Alpine Village of Brunate and enjoy a meal or a coffee with the calming views of Como Lake from a higher point,

Walked around the lake to the funicular railway. Took only 10 - 15 minutes from the center of Como (lakeside). The funicular was an interesting trip, about 5 carriages with seats for only 4-6 in each - rest were standing. It took about 15 minutes to reach the top. Views on the way up were great, but from the top,... More

Nice view over Como. My phone thought on the top that I had reached Switzerland though. Got up there and back down only for 5,50.

If you're in Lake como , and as you walk along the lake como, walk along the stroll on the lake, just keep on your left and you will reach here . Worth taking the trail up as the view is panoramic and breathe the fresh como air here ! Awesome !

Try to get a rear view going up of front coming down. When you get to the top follow the signs to the views, a 2 minute walk and enjoy. Pick a bright day and not a day with low cloud.

I think this was 5 euro/person. The view at the top even on a cloudy day was amazing. The little town at the top was nice too.
