Guided tour in English was very helpful (13E each I think) and lovely area to have lunch in afterwards.

This is a beautiful villa with a lot of history. The gardens are absolutely fantastic with a beautiful view of Lake Como. There is a lot of walking as I took the regular ferry and came in through Lenno. While walking along the promenade in Lenno I stopped at Bar Sport and had the best bowl of vegetable soup any... More

Villa Balbianello is probably the most charming villa on the lake Como. Luckily for us it's a public villa, donated to the FAI (Fondo Italiano Ambiente) a while ago, which allow everyone to visit it for a small fee. The FAI is doing a great job with the villa, which remains, in my opinion, the most charming spot on the... More

We arrived by boat and took the official guided tour (I think it's the only way you can see this villa) - very intersting. Would recommend.

The location of the Villa; it's architecture, history and beauty are striking. This was the high point of our trip. The guided tour is timed, and well worth it. Our guide was knowledgable and brought the history of the house to life. The walk to and from the Villa is both uphill and downhill. It can get very hot during... More

We traveled to the villa on Lake Como, by boat. This really is a beautifully situated villa with wonderful gardens and stunning views of Lake Como. I found the tour of the villa very interesting, especially the collection of artifacts and historic furniture.

Walked instead of taking the boat to the dock, as most people did. The tour was worth the price of admission. You go through the whole place and see everything, even back stairways and such. Beautiful property and the last owner was an interesting figure.

There is a lovely guided tour of the villa, which includes 16 rooms and very interesting collections. You tour the grounds on your own. The views are spectacular as the villa sits right on the lake. There is free parking close by. On Tues, you can visit the market in Lenno and then either hike up to the villa or... More

We took the Ferry from Vareena to Lenno and since it was not market day, found the water taxi to the Villa. The guided tour was worth it - the grounds and buildings are magnificent. The miniature white fig vine that grows on the Loggia is one plant that is now hundreds of years old. the place has an interesting... More

I was overwhelmed by the beauty of this villa - it was a stunning location with breathtaking gardens. Well worth doing the guided house tour - it was so interesting and gave an insight into the history and gardens at the location. Also great to think Ive trodden in the steps of James Bond and Star Wars !
