It began when Chef Luigi personally addressed our inquiry, picked us up from the ferry and drove us to Il Salice Blu, the family restaurant started by his father and uncle. The class begins with a tour of the garden, includes lessons in stuffing zucchini flowers, pasta making, risotto, and a wonderful chocolate desert. The kitchen staff help along the... More

8 of us had a private cooking class with Chef Luigi in the restaurant kitchen for my birthday. The class was a nice mixture of preparing things ourselves (different kinds of pasta, risotto, gnocchi) and watching Chef Luigi prepare (creams and custards for dessert). Chef Luigi was cheeky and very funny, keeping us all entertained and happy. The restaurant is... More

We had a terrific time at Salice Blu - the cooking lesson was great. There were only 3 of us so we were in the restaurant kitchen rather than in the cooking school room. Luigi kept us busy with pasta, gnocchi, apple tarts and risotto. My husband went to a class last year with our daughter, and said he'd happily... More

From start to finish, it was a superb experience. As I was running late for my weekend class, considered normal in Italy, Chef Luigi was setting up his kitchen for another busy day at Salice Blu. When I arrived, a glass of refreshing prosecco, pasta dough, pots and pans were waiting for me. The dishes we prepared were colorful, delicious... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our cooking lesson with Luigi. It was enjoyable from the moment Luigi picked us up from our apartment in his van, till the time he dropped us back there at the end. He is a natural entertainer, both in the kitchen and out of it. On arriving at the venue (the restaurant which Luigi and his family... More

Based on the reviews on TA we booked a private cooking lesson with Chef Luigi Gandola at his restaurant , Il Salice Blue, near Bellagio. The experience started in the restaurant's garden where we picked ingredients to be used in the dishes we were preparing. We made fresh pasta, gnocchi, ravioli & risotto. Chef Luigi is a very accomplished chef... More

Chef Luigi Gandola runs an Italian cooking class in his family-run restaurant just out of central Bellagio. The class includes transfers from Bellagio, a tour of Luigi's herb garden, hands-on pasta making, observation of Luigi making risotto and creme brulee, wine and lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed this lesson! Be prepared though; Luigi picks you up at 10am but you don't get... More

This was a very fun and educational experience. In addition to the enjoyment of learning how to make homemade pasta, gnocchi, and ravioli, we greatly enjoyed the company of the other participants. We met people from (quite literally) all over the world and we had some great conversations. Well worth the price in our opinion.

We were lucky enough to meet Chef Luigi, who charmingly showed us first his gorgeus garden, where he picks herbs and spices, then started an absolutely amazing cooking class. Our favourite was the ravioli making ( and eating of course). This is an experience good for all ages, we will certainly try the recipees at home. Great class and meal!
