Loved this town

Stayed here for a few days in July. I loved the upper old town, so many places to eat and see. I wish we stayed for a few more days.

Went to Bergamo from Milan for half day. One way train ticket from Milan central station to Bergamo is 5.30 Euro. You need to take bus 1A to the upper part of the city. 1A bus stop is right in front the train station. You can purchase bus ticket from the bar/restaurant which is to right of bus stop. I... More

Bergamo is fun to visit. This was my second trip. It was also the second time I had difficulty finding a working gas station to refill the tank of a rental car before returning it to the airport. The first trip we went far from the airport on unmarked streets in the dark on a Sunday night, searching for a... More

This is a town which is only 45 minutes by train from Central Station, Milan. Bergamo is situated at the foothills of Alps. The upper old town of Bergamo overlooking the surrounding areas of Milan renders an exquisite feeling of quaintness - the Cathedral, the Piazza, the narrow cobblestone streets, bringIng you back to medieval times. This town is best... More

Decided to visit Bergamo on our last day. The old town area is beautifully kept historical buildings and stone pebbled streets. Visited a few churches which were amazing. Lower city is like every other city nice to just walk around.

I can agree with the reviews here. Visited in June. Locals helpful and friendly even with my poor Italian. Very patient and genuine people. Was good as I was touring with my elderly dad. We visited the upper City citta alta with the furnicular rail way and went on up to the castello in the second one. We visited the... More

This is really a hidden treasure, 3 euros on the bus from the airport to get into the city from Bergamo airport. If you want to get into Milan it takes 50 mins on the train costs about 6 euros from Bergamo. Can't see the Mecure Hotel to recommend it but it was fabulous. It is good for couples. families,... Decided to visit Bergamo on our way to Milan after reading some nice reviews on Tripadvisor, and I was not disappointed! The old town area is a real gem with the beautifully kept historical buildings and stone pebbled streets. We hired a local guide (her name is Sam) and she was fantastic - took us through many of the 'secrets'... More

Bergamo is well worth a visit. Came to visit lakes and only stayed over to catch early flight. However, our day trip to Bergamo and the old city was so well worth it. There is so much to see in the old city we will be back. The little railway takes you there for a few euro and the views... More

I travelled to Bergamo expecting to pass a few interesting hours in an historic town. The outside of the cathedral and basilica are impressive but my word when i walked inside, I was almost speechless at the beautiful paintings and frescos. I really was blown away. Outside there are cobbled streets to explore which contain many traditional shops selling delicious... More
