Fantastic spot lots to see and do very good public transport links trains buses and ferries. Great places to eat and very reasonable very popular Italian resort so not overly touristy. If you want to go to the beach on the week-end be sure to pre-book your sun bed in July/August as the local's love the beach

Stayed at the Grand Hotel Mirremare and thought it was delightful. A highlight was walking into Portofino and back. Some lovely places to eat and of course shop.

Bellissima Santa Margherita, luminosa, accogliente, colorata, elegante. We took the bus to protofino at 18 and were back 2 hours later to Santa margherita for dinner ... We loved this little beautiful town. I would recommend to anyone planning to spend some time in Portofino natural park to include this city in the itinerary. Definitely leave the car here and... This location can prove very busy with tourists, but is very attractive. Do enjoy the bus ride to Portofino & save having to take the car on narrow roads. Hey you can then have wine with lunch without the worry of drink/driving law. ENJOY :-)

Santa Margherita is a must to visit and stay if you are going to Ligure. We loved it even more than the Cinque Terre. Lovely Restaurants and a great place to relax!

We stayed at Hotel Villa Anita and it was excellent. This family run boutique style hotel provided great service and recommendations for restaurants, beaches and local attractions. They provided us with towels to take to the beach, made dinner reservations for us and called a cab to take us to the train station because we were running late and might miss... On the road from Genoa to Portofino before the final 5-mile drive along the scenic peninsula to the world famous quaint port, this village is teaming with great sidewalk cafes and bistros. The marina is beautiful and a great place to stroll around with your honey as I did with mine.

Beautiful little town on the Rivera. Central location- from here you can easily go to Portofino or Le Cinque Terre. People friendly and kinds. Lots of little shops. Great restaurants and gelaterie. A beautiful place to visit.
