Hotel restaurant was not that great for dinner but did offer a very good breakfast included with the room.

Just as pretty as Portofino but bigger with more to do - and not as expensive! Boat trips run along the coastline regularly. Lots of nice restaurants - cheap and expensive. But negotiate with taxi drivers before you step into their car - extortionate!

Everyone needs to come here at some time in their life. Gorgeous boats, boutiques you can't afford, restaurants by the thousands and buzzy nightlife. A good spot to travel to Cinque Terra and these lovely coastal towns

I was not sure whether to stay in Santa Margherita, Portofino or Camogli. After seeing all three cities I am very happy I choose Santa Margherita because it has everything we could ask for; great restaurants, beaches, shopping and plenty of places to explore. Portofino was pretty but too small to spend three days there. Camogli was beautiful and larger... More

This for us was the nicest of all the places, the Cinque Terre towns though cute in their own way and good for a visit do not provide the standard of accommodation Santa Margherita does. It has more shops of all standards and restaurants as well. Though it may well be more expensive. This place has hotels of comfort with... More

Absolutely beautiful, low key town that is just the right size so that you won't run out of things to do, but not overcrowded like its more popular neighbor Portofino. We stayed here 6 nights which was ideal. Plenty of high quality restaurants, nice hotel and a great casual vibe.

We loved Santa Margherita! It had several great shops and restaurants as well as easy access via ferry or train to other coastal towns. We took a beautiful coastal walk to Portofino and a ferry to Camogli. It is a fantastic place to call home for a week!

A lot of people pass through Santa Margherita Ligure as its the only way to get to Portofino if you are driving. Let me encourage you to spend some time here... this is a town with a certain 20's elegance where richly decorated houses in the Ligurian style cosy up to stunning Villas and Hotels built in the 'Belle Epoch.'... far better spot than its pretentious neighbor, Portofino. Wonderful family beach spot, with great food, great energy, and wonderful people watching.

We liked the shops and restaurants, the ease to get boat trips. the bus along to Portofino and Rapallo. The total atmosphere of the town. Only negative was crossing the road on the pedestrian crossings! Overall a wonderful place.
