A pretty town with lots of wonderful churches and Squares to sit and watch the word go by. A very quaint beach with stripped huts.

My wife and I first found Santa Margherita from a shore excursion on a cruise and liked it so much we returned to stay the next two years running. It has all you would want; good shopping, excellent restaurants, plenty of sightseeing with churches and gardens, and a pleasant waterfront promenade. We stayed at the Hotel Jolanda a very nice... An attractive and colourful small resort with a wide promenade round the bay to the fishing harbour. The houses lining the promenade are very colourful, plenty of cafes and restaurants. A good shopping area with interesting and well stocked shops. An old castle, a prominent villa in its own park, and beautiful churches add to the charm of this pretty... More

This town on the Italian Riviera has gorgeous views, beautiful Hotels, Great Restaurants, A Marina, an old town, and charm, charm, charm. I think that is prettier than Portofino which is only 20 min away by car. Night time strolling along the main street of SML leads you to beautiful, cozy cafes and bars with tables right along the seaside.... More

Traveling from Milan to Montecatini we decided that a midway stop was in order and that a seaside town would fit the bill. SML was a great choice! In mid November there were plenty of (locals approved) restaurants open for lunch despite the fact that most of the tourists were gone. The architecture and history of the city pared with... More

This is where the old money italian people go for the summer and not to the glitzy Portofino next door. Very good hotels and restaurants abound

Santa Margherita Ligure is a small, sleepy town on the Italian Riviera with quaint cafes and eateries, abundant boutiques, pastel-painted buildings, and glorious views of the sea. It is just the place to visit and decompress away from the hustle and bustle of daily work. The seafood is excellent, especially at the Pizzeria Santa Lucia where the grilled frutti de... More

Only a short distance from Portofino but without the hype and pretentiousness. This beautiful town located on the bay has everything you could need for a holiday. Having visited in both May and December, we have seen it in all shades of its glory. Lovely architecture, a nice sandy beach, great restaurants and family friendly, this town has it all.... More

This is a wonderful seaside community with many unique sites. There ia an old castle, overlooking the sea along the road to Portofino, the imposing Basilica di Santa Margherita, Villa Durazzo and Chiesa di San Giacomo amongst others. Then there is a palm tree fringed central park with prominent statues, lined on one side with quaint trompe-l'oeil frescoed buildings and... More
