Santa Margherita Ligure is worth visiting. The seaside promenade is lovely; it overlooks the harbor with its huge yachts. The grand hotels dominate the scene. And the walk along the coast from Santa Margherita to Portofina is not to be missed.

Small town with lots of restaurants and pizzerias. Lovely shops but as the town is small there are not as many as a large town would have. Lovely promenade with boat trips if required. Train station just a few minutes away from town centre and buses run in both directions from sea front, so easy to explore the surrounding areas... More

A very pleasant town with a colorful port and nice beach. It is only 10 min away from Portofino by bus or boat. Plenty of nice hotels, cafe's and restaurants.

This place materialises the calm after the chaos of Genoa. This is a very picture-perfect seaside promenade overlooking the expensive yachts to its impeccably groomed locals. This Riviera playground has everything from its attractive hotels and plenty of palm trees, cafes to its tranquil setting. The beach is lovely, but you will need to get there quite early if you... Trendy seaside town only a few minutes away from the overpriced Portofino. Lots of boutique shops and great little restaurants. Train station is centrally located and day trips by rail to the Cinque Terre are easy to do, as are trips to Genoa by train.

What a wonderful town...more substantial in many ways than Portofino, and with its own special charm. We are do glad we opted to stay here and do day trips to Portofino (15 minutes by Ferry or you can take the bus or walk), Cinque Terre (50 minutes by train to Montorosso).

Santa Margherita is a lovely small coastal town with lovely walks along the sea-front and lots to see in the harbour. It is an extremely popular tourist destination so if you want to say here - book early. Same goes for the numerous good restaurants in town which are located along the front and in the fascinating narrow streets leading... More

We spent four days here as part of a month long visit through Italy. It was a Great location to explore Cinque Terre and the Village of Portofino when we were not exploring the many streets, restaurants and shops of this quintessential Italian fishing village. Definitely a place to return during the warm summer months.
