Great trip for the day. I recommend getting there on the first boat and hopping off at each stop for one hour. There is a schedule that you can follow to make sure you get the last boat back to la Spezia. Great food and fun at each stop. Way better than taking the train. The views from the water...

This ferry cruise we picked up in Levanto and then rode down to Riomaggiore. From there we hiked to Manarola then later in the day did the route from Vernazza to Monterosso.
From Levanto to Riomaggiore is cost us 11 euro each. It was a great price to see the CT from the water and go into the Monterosso,Vernazza, Manarola...

Hard to believe that this has not previously been mentioned.
Consorzio Marittimo Turistico 5 Terre operates a fleet of ferry boats that connect all of Cinque Terre and beyond. Its a pictuesque and convenient way to explore the villages from the sea.
With careful planning one can spend an entire day with their one day pass. The price is reasonable...
