Fantastic historic buildings on either side. Well worth the walk thru. Stunning architecture and building facades, a great afternoon or early evening passeggiata.

Buyilt in 1551 Via Garibaldi is a unique experience to visit during a work day possibly visiting some of it's museum's (Palazzo Rosso, Palazzo Bianco) or visiting the antique shops or the banks, not the speak of the Palazzo Tursi, the city hall or the Chamber of Commerce, all buildings protected by the UNESCO Heritage foundation.
It was extraordinary looking around all of the huge buildings, really enjoyed walking down there every day enroute to the port antico, also had a photo take with a friendly police man who was guarding a building, beautiful palaces!
Ypu should definitely walk down this road if you are in Genoa and the museums (palazzo rosso, palazzo bianco etc) are also worthwhile. NIce restaurants in the side roads and it's not touristy.
you need to pop in and out of virtually every building along this most unusual ancient street. Every old palace has been renovated usually in to a museum or exhibition place of interest. The architecture is fantastic, lots of different things to see leave enough time to enjoy browsing in and out. Dont miss it
Though many buildings have been converted to museums, and some restoration work is going on, it is very pleasant to walk on this street and view the historical buildings.
