We drove to Trieste and were going to use the car to see the sights. Instead we parked the car at the hotel for 3 days and used the public transport system. We purchased a "day bus pass" for a few Euros and could travel all day on the public buses. From outside of our hotel we caught the No.... More

Triest is a big city although the area atvthe sea, close to the marina and cruise ship terminal is very beautiful and invites to a nice stroll and visiting one of the very traditional cafes and restaurants!

Checked 'in your pocket' schedule for the Hop on Hop Off Bus. Checked their website too. Looked like very accurate information. Very precise times and locations. Indicated from March to October. It's nearing the end of September. We waited at designated stop # 1 at the designated time and the bus never came. Not sure why but was very disappointed.

Went to visit this city with a tour group and really enjoyed it. Beautiful buildings in Piazza Unita and marina. Lots of shops if u want to have a look and lots of nice icecream palours that even do gluten free icecream (Groom)seen victory lighthouse and Miramare castle. Grounds and Castle are lovely. View is amazing

It's a pleasant city but beware the very old steel factory and coke works just behind the center of town in the suburbs pumping out tonnes of cancerous producing particles. Will never visit Trieste again. It's an environmental disaster. Shame on the council and residents.

Beautiful town to visit, clean, good restaurants, rich culture, nice people. There is museum of modern art in old centre with very rich fundus. Highly recommended.

This is imperial Austro-Hungarian architecture - a riot of ornate buildings, imposing city squares and, interestingly, many different churches. This is a town worth visiting just to walk around. The Castello on the top of the hill overlooking the town has some good views, though it is a steep climb.

Before World War I Trieste was the important port of Austria-Hungary, later Italian one. At my photos there are: St.Giusto Castello, Fontana Quattro Continenti, amfiteater, St.Maria Maggiore Church, St.Giusto Church and other.
