We were in Trieste early this June. They were celebrating the Republic Day and the Giro D'Italia ending there - much celebrating going on. The city was all decked out and jets spewing forth red, white and green smoke while the Italian national anthem was playing was outstanding! The town is in the far north eastern part of Italy and... We booked this through viator for the end of March, paid and got vouchers. We went to wait for the bus and when it didn't show up we called the local number given and were told they didn't know what happened but they don't run until April. Actually, this is probably not something you need to do. The Audiotour of... More

From across the Caffe San Marco, the most splendid and theatrically old world of Trieste's historic coffee houses,i find myself unable to stop staring at the elderly man who, like certain figures you see when travelling, seems conjured up,by magic to enhance the ambience of a place. perhaps its just the setting - the glossy, dark wood panelling, the golden walls, the marble topped tables,the... Globus did a day trip to Trieste, Italy from our location in Ljubljana, Slovenia. We were all terribly disappointed in the Trieste. The city was a large one with nothing unique and interesting to see. It was a waste of our time and we all felt that our time would have been better spent in Ljubljana, Slovenia a charming town... It is a beautiful city with lovely old church on the hill. It was 15 minutes walk up with normal speed. There is also a road and car parking by the church on the top of the hill but walk way is especially charming. There are so many jelly fishes at the beach and which is usual in August according... We spent a few hours in Trieste whilst staying near Udine; judging by other reviews, we didn't have the opportunity to experience all its virtues, but even so it was a lovely place with some beautiful churches and an imposing castle and cathedral over-looking the town. Our boys were particularly impressed by the pizzeria we visited and the gelateria -... More

An amazing city, where Italy (from the ancient Roman Arena to the old Medieval city) and the Austrian Empire (the 18th century buildings and the beautiful Miramare Castle) blend together in perfect beauty. A must see and worth a stop of a couple of days at least. Don't forget your swimsuit! (we didn't expect such clear water ≈so close to... More

Brought to Trieste by litterary nostalgia (teenage addiction to the procrastinating adventures of Zeno in the Italo Svevo novel), I must say I was not disappointed by this city featuring so many remnants of the glorious past of the Habsburg Empire harbour. Chic and classy place to stay.
