Somehow we hadn't expected the journey to be so long. Really nice surprise. Wonderful scenery along the way with fantastic glimpses of Trieste, the sea and everyday life of those in the hill area.

Jump aboard this quaint, rickety old tram to Obelisk. Take the easy path along the clifftops to the village of Prosecco (takes about 1.5 hrs) - pause to admire the view and the free-climbers then reward yourself at the little bar at the end for a drink - be warned they don't serve Prosecco! If you're too tired to walk... More

Old fashioned tram, the view going up or down is spectacular its a must if you are in Trieste. You can disembark in Opicina and have coffee or small lunc in the nearby tavern.

A very inexpensive (1.30 euros or similar) and panoramic way to arrive in Trieste from Villa Opicina. Stunning views over the city and out to sea.

Opicina tram is a fantastic way to go from Trieste to Opicina in a romantic and charming tram. You need to stop in the "Obelisco" that is a beautiful viewpoint, you can see the beautiful Trieste from there. Then you can also enjoy a walk along the "Napoleonica".

Vern worked on electric muni's, trams, etc and it was great for him to watch the slow tramway connect to the power plant that moves the little tram up the hill and back. We went to see an obelisk, but it was not what we thought it was so we didn't get off. If you are interested in the war... More

This little San Francisco-style tram climes from the city centre to the edge of the hills overlooking the city. It gives great views over the whole bay. The cost is the same as for any bus ride in town (about €1.50 if I remember correctly), so great value for money. When you get to the top there is a 4km... More

How can anyone give this less than 5 stars is beyond me. Perhaps you had a bad morning. Old style tram takes you above the city to the karst plateau - what's not to like?! Excellent and more so because the authorities don't decide to be greedy and inflate prices as much as they can for the tourist market -... More

Everyone should ride in this tram at list once. There is so cute and unrepeatable experience, and ticket is so cheap. Enjoy this!

I couldn't miss the old No 2 tram parked up at a terminal stop right outside the Albergo alla Posta hotel on the night we arrived. To my amusement it turned out to be the very tram I wanted to ride up to Opicina and I enjoyed the ride very much. Much has already been said about the panoramic views... More
